Hi everyone! It’s Cathy Z. here and I’m so happy to be sharing a fun birthday card project with you today because it’s literally right up my alley. Or should I say “bee”-cause?

CathyZforSCTMagazine2
If there is one playful theme I love it’s anything to do with bees! I dress up like one every Halloween (going on about 30 years now!), and so when I got my hands on this charming Bee Hive stamp set from Honey Bee Stamps (along with the coordinating dies,) I knew I had the perfect set for a birthday card.

CathyZforSCTMagazine3
I picked out some gray and yellow Copic markers and stamped my images on a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110 pound cardstock using Gina K. Designs Amalgam ink. Once the coloring and die cutting was complete, I took a scrap of the Neenah paper and blended on some Distress Oxide ink in Mustard Seed to create a small patch of yellow to serve as my hive honey. I then smoothed a thin layer of Tonic Nuvo’s Glimmer Paste in the Moonstone color to create a shiny, glimmery patch of honey.

CathyZforSCTMagazine4
I cut a white cardstock panel using a Lawn Fawn Dotted Rectangle die, then stamped out my title and the little bee trails using Versamark Onyx Black ink. I trimmed my shimmery honey into a circle to fit behind the hive opening and adhered that to the panel.

I created an A2 (4.25 x 5.5) card base using some Gina K. Designs Heavy Base Weight Cardstock in Wild Dandelion.

CathyZforSCTMagazine6
Next, I popped up the hive and the bees using some of the new Gina K. Designs for Therm O Web foam squares to add some fun dimension to my project.

CathyZforSCTMagazine7
This sentiment came from the exceptionally versatile Bee-u-tiful Sentiments set that features all kinds of different words that you can mix and match to create the perfect greeting for your card.

I really love this set. You could say I’m all abuzz about it, but that should go without saying! Happy Birthday, SCT!

Hello everyone! It’s Lisa Dickinson here today and in honour of SCT’s birthday celebration, I’m sharing a celebratory layout! It’s no secret that I love grid-based designs, and this one was inspired by one of the papers in the new Crate Paper Hooray! line.

LisaDickinson_HappyBirthday1

supplies | cardstock: Bazzill Basics; patterned paper, chipboard, stickers: Crate Paper; twine: The Twinery; enamel dots: Your Next Stamp; square punch: Creative Memories; die cutter: Silhouette Cameo; font: Tox Typewriter; adhesive: American Crafts, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

I knew the grid side of this paper would a perfect spot to showcase lots of the cute patterns and embellishments in this collection. I cut a 9″ square from the paper and used it as a starting point on this page about my son’s 17th birthday.

LisaDickinson_HappyBirthday2

In each of the grid portions on the paper, I cut a smaller piece of patterned paper (approximately 1 5/8″ square) and stitched around the edge before adhering it. Then I selected an assortment of chipboard and sticker accents to embellish each square.

I used liquid glue to adorn the outer edge of the grid with baker’s twine and then secured it to my cardstock background that I typed my journaling on. Under my photos, I arranged a title that’s a combo of chipboard stickers and a die-cut word which I created as a cut file for you too!

I love the festive, colorful feeling the grid lends to this layout. It definitely captures the excitement of a birthday celebration!

Happy Birthday SCT!

Happy Birthday! What’s a birthday without a little gift or two? And how much more fun is a gift when it’s all wrapped up in bright beautiful colors? Hi everyone, it’s Wendy Sue here today, sharing a fun little gift set I created featuring the “I Heart Us” collection from Close to my Heart.

WendySueAnderson4forScrapbookandCardsTodayMagazine

These gorgeous papers and stickers, along with a fun cut file (#276058 in the Silhouette store) and some designer dies (“Happy Birthday”) from Echo Park Paper made it so easy to whip up these little gift bags – the perfect size for sharing a little goodie, or a gift card, or even sweet little party favors.

Here are a few close-up photos or each gift bag:

After creating the gift bags, I wanted to put the scraps to good use, so I used them to create some extra tags to add to additional cards or gifts – it’s always a good idea to make extras to have on-hand!
