SCT’s 12 Days of Holiday Giving – Day 11!

Welcome to Day 11 of our 12 Days of Holiday Giving! While we don’t have eleven pipers piping (although it would be fun if we did!) we do have our fabulous Art Director Cathy Zielske here kicking off a fun day of inspiration and prizes! Let’s sing along to our favourite song…

Hi everyone! It’s Cathy Zielske here, art director for Scrapbook & Cards Today, and I’ve got a sweet little snowman card to share with you.

This cute little snowman is from the Winter Hugs stamp set by Gina K. Designs, and I stamped him in Memento Tuxedo black in and just used a few Copic markers (BG45, B00, C1, RV10, YR65) to colour him in very simply! Once he was coloured in, I used the coordinating die to cut him out. Then came some fun stuff:

I added a little bit of the Prismatic Glitter from Gina K. Designs to the white trim on his hat. I just used a bit of the Connect liquid glue to fill in the trim and the pom area sprinkled on the glitter and shook the excess off. A quick tip? Before I added the liquid glue, I ran my Embossing Magic Pad over the die-cut image, just to remove static and any oils, so my glitter only stuck to where I placed the glue.

You can just make out the glitter on the snowman’s hat. It’s super shiny in real life!

To create that blended square in the background, I used one of the Taylored Expressions Masking Stencils and two Distress Oxide colors: Tumbled Glass and Broken China.

These stencils are designed to work with standard US A2 card panel sizes (4.25 inches x 5.5 inches) and have grooves on the stencil that you use to line up your card panel. Just tape into place, and you can ink blend the perfect shape, in this case, a square.

I flicked on some white paint while the mask was still in place to keep it all nicely contained within the square.

To finish off the card, I added a few die cut snowflakes and stamped “merry christmas” using my CZ Design Clean Line Christmas stamps, and die cut out the sentiment using the coordinating die. I used Thin Foam squares from Scrapbook Adhesives to pop up the snowman and the sentiment and popped the whole panel onto a white card base.
