It’s day two of challenge week and we’re excited to welcome design team member Erica Thompson here to inspire you to create with a gorgeous spring mood board. If this doesn’t make you drop what you’re doing now to make something, we don’t know what will! Let’s take a look, and be sure to read all the way to the bottom of the post to find out what you could win by playing along with this challenge!

Hey friends! It’s Erica here with you today and I am super excited about challenge week! Today I am sharing a layout inspired by this beautiful mood board:

The fringe and the colors just made me so happy and I had to pull out my fringe scissors! I just received the Keeping it Real collection by Pinkfresh Studio in the mail and the Big Mood patterned paper was just calling to be cut up with my fringe scissors! I also think the colors are a pretty good match to the ones in the mood board.

I really wanted the fringe to be a big highlight of my layout! I decided to go with an 8.5” x 11” page which I am really loving these days! It is a fun page size and works well for one-photo layouts. I cut down the Big Mood patterned paper and then used my fringe scissors on them, adhering them to the bottom of my page with Therm O Web’s Gina K Designs tape runner.

Using the fringe scissors really gives the page some fun texture and dimension! I think this could be done with other decorative scissors as well to create texture and patterns on a layout! If you have some scissors like this in your stash, I encourage you to pull them out and get creative with them again!

I kept the embellishments light since there is so much color and texture on the page. I wanted to add in florals to soften it up a little and frame my photo! I also wanted to create a little cluster towards the bottom left to help bring your eye down to the bottom of the layout! My journaling is simple and I used my WRMK typewriter to type on one of the Pinkfresh Studio labels.

For the top section of my layout, I distressed the edges of my white cardstock and added rips at the top of the page, creating a peek-a-boo fringe underneath and adding color to the very top of the page. I just used small scissors to cut a small chunk out of the top and then made a small rip on the page. I rolled down the paper just a bit and put a small piece of fringe behind it. I just love how it looks peeking out at the top! This layout is very clean and simple, but still has lots of color and texture.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed my layout and have found some inspiration in this beautiful mood board. Be sure to share what you create! If you have some fringe or other type of decorative scissors, I would love to see you pull them out and use them on your next project! Have a great day!
