Hello SCT fans! It’s Lisa Dickinson here today and I’m excited to share this month’s free cut file by Paige Evans! It’s a gorgeous floral background that’s perfect for spring, Easter, or any page that needs an infusion of flowers! Take a look!

This cut file provides the perfect way to incorporate a lot of color and pattern onto your page, and it makes a layout come together in no time at all! Here’s what I created:

Supplies | Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; Patterned paper & stickers: American Crafts; Vellum: Scrapbook.com; Electronic die cutting machine: Silhouette Cameo; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

To add to the fresh, spring theme of the flowers, I chose two paper lines to work with – Jen Hadfield’s Peaceful Heart and Crate Paper’s Magical Forest. After cutting the flowers from white cardstock, I backed the cut file with patterned papers that coordinated with the colors in my photos. Not sure what papers to use? Let your photos help you pick by selecting colors and patterns that appear in your pictures!

Once the open spaces in the flowers were filled, I mounted the entire die cut piece on a tone-on-tone patterned paper from Maggie Holmes. Don’t be afraid to incorporate a soft pattern as your background. It adds more interest and detail than a plain piece of cardstock!

To help the title stand out, I mounted the die cut word atop a banner cut from vellum. It adds a subtle layer between the title and die cut without completely covering up the flowers beneath. As a final embellishing touch, I cut gold-foil butterflies from this Jen Hadfield paper and sprinkled mirrored acrylic stickers around for sparkle!

Though I am always a proponent of journaling, I ended up writing mine on the back of this layout to keep the design clean and simple. Sometimes it’s easier to tell your story with unlimited space and not stress about fitting it into the parameters of a page!

How will you use this free cut file download? It’s the perfect way to start any spring page! We’d love to see what you create!
