Hello, SCT Friends! It’s Wendy Sue here today, sharing a project based on beautiful inspiration from the Spring 2021 Issue! First, here’s a look at the card set I created:
Would you be surprised to learn that these cards were inspired by a layout?! This gorgeous layout by Jennifer Edwardson was published on page 65:
I LOVE a good two-page layout and found so much inspiration in Jennifer’s pages. I started brainstorming a layout I could create but ultimately landed on replenishing my birthday card stash, gleaning inspiration from her paper strip background.
I loved the way Jennifer used both horizontal and vertical strips for her backgrounds, so I did it both ways too! I mixed and matched papers from various collections from Close To My Heart and Echo Park Paper. I took a cue from Jennifer by using colorful papers with fun patterns, while also making sure to include some black and white patterns as a way to ground everything. This would also be a fabulous way to use some of those scraps you’ve been hanging on to!
If you look closely at Jennifer’s pages, you’ll see a few pennants on the right page. I used this idea on some of the sentiment strips, and even a few other embellishments on my cards.
You’ll also find cute little hearts popped up around her pages, so of course, I had to do that too!
I couldn’t resist adding a few additional stickers from the collections on some of the cards. It was so much fun mixing and matching!!
I was so inspired by these cards and I’m thrilled to have my birthday card stash replenished! Thanks for the inspiration, Jennifer!
What wonderful cards inspired by Jennifer’s layout! As a special treat, Wendy is sharing the sentiment strips that she used to create these birthday cards with us, to make putting our own cards together, and adding a sentiment easy!
