Hello, SCT friends! It’s getting hot, hot, hot here in Utah, so I’m finding myself enjoying a little bit of air-conditioned crafting time inside during the heat of the day. You know what else is hot, hot, hot? A new feature in the Spring/Summer issue called Common Thread. It features projects by different designers, all inspired by one common thing—in this issue, the common thing is a color scheme! And it’s a good one:

I took the challenge to use this beautiful color combination to create this layout:

Supplies | Patterned paper, stickers: Echo Park Paper My Best Life collection; Cardstock: Carta Bella Paper

I used the “My Best Life” collection from Echo Park Paper to create my layout. I loved that it had two beautiful shades of pink, plus a gorgeous orange tone that perfectly matched the colors in the issue. I opted to use a few accents of light blue to fulfill the “gray” portion of the palette.

I thought the two-toned pink plaid patterned paper was a great background, then I just built on top of it, like a layered cake, with layers of pretty paper!

The bright, cheery tones of this color combo worked great for this little snippet of a memory I wanted to add to our scrapbook, even though there isn’t any pink in the photos.

If you haven’t already, take a look at this article (and the rest of this amazing issue) and see how it will inspire you to create a fun project!
