One of my favourite Stampin’ Up! stamp sets is the Magical Mermaid stamp set! I just love the images in this amazing set!

I created three cards with this set, all in my favourite technique, ink blending. For each card, the base is created from Whisper White Thick Cardstock. For the front, I sponged Whisper White Cardstock with the Stamping Sponges in three colours ink, Bermuda Bay, Balmy Blue and Pool Party. Ink blending sounds hard, but it’s actually a very easy and fun technique. Dip your sponge on an ink pad of choice and then sponge in circling movements over your project. To get the best result, apply a few layers until your satisfied with the end result.

The outline of the mermaid image is stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, then I coloured the image with the Stampin’ Blends Markers. These markers come in two colours, a light and darker one, so applying shading in your colouring was never easier. I used the Lovely Lipstick, Daffodil Delight and Petal Pink Markers for this mermaid. I added some Glitter Enamel Dots on my background. You can never have too much glitter, right?

I love stamping the stripes on the side of my cards, giving it a little extra, a bit of a personal signature to my cards maybe. The striped image comes from the stamp set Tropical Chic. The text for these cards is stamped on Basic Black Cardstock with Versamark Ink. Sprinkle your stamped image with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and tip the excess off your image. Heat it with a Heat Tool to get a great textured white text. For this mermaid, I used the Calypso Coral, Petal Pink, Daffodil Delight and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends. I spattered some Bermuda Bay ink on the white parts of this card.

On my square card, I stamped the little mermaid image in circles with Bermuda Bay ink. On the front I stamped two of them in Lovely Lipstick ink and placed them with Stampin’ Dimensionals on to the card. All the images are fussy cut. To give your sponged background a bit of an extra touch, add some water spatters on your paper.

I totally love the stitched look, so for my cards I used a stitched border from the Stitched Labels Framelits Dies and a square for my text on the last card from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.

Create what you love, happy stamping everyone!
