Stampin’ Up! Inspiration Saturday!

Stampin’ Up! Inspiration Saturday!

Good morning SCT friends! Our friends at Stampin’ Up! have joined us today and Artisan Design Team Member Kayla MacAulay has created some sweet projects to share!

Stampin' Up! prize

“Stampin’ Up!’s Myths & Magic Suite is perfect for the young or young at heart. The fun and whimsical imagery is perfect for creating some fun and youthful cards. Paired with a couple of great sentiments included in the Magical Day Stamp Set you can make these cards for birthdays, celebrations or just to simply tell someone they are amazing and one of a kind!

This suite is perfect for those that love to colour and would work well coloured with Stampin’ Blends, Stampin’ Write Markers or like I have done, with Watercolour Pencils. I love the Stampin’ Up! Watercolour Pencils. They coordinate with Stampin’ Up!’s beautiful colour range and are so smooth and easy to blend.

I also love that this suite comes with coordinating dies, Designer Series Paper, Glimmer Paper and even some beautiful Myths & Magic Washi Tape. Here’s a look at the set of four cards I made using this suite…

I was really inspired to keep the design and layout of these cards pretty simple. I wanted the focus to be on the gorgeous stamps and Designer Series Paper. I paired the suite with some Lemon Lime Twist, Tranquil Tide, Dapper Denim and Basic Black cardstock with the added addition of some Silver Glimmer Paper cut with the Starburst Punch for an added bit of sparkle and shine.

I love the Ombre ¼’’ Ribbon in the Annual Catalogue and have featured this in both Lemon Lime Twist and Calypso Coral to further embellish the cards.

Kayla MacAulay SCT Feb18 IMAGE 2

The first card in the set I made was using this gorgeous unicorn which is really on trend at the moment and definitely one of my favourites.
After I made this card I realized how fun this would be for party décor and so decided to make coordinating treat bags using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlets Dies and fill them with some fun treats. I love using the gorgeous Designer Series Paper and this really shows the paper off!

I created a tone on tone background on the card using Soft Sky and one of the small patterned images from the Myths and Magic stamp set. To finish the card off I added some Pool Party Bakers Twine and some Basic Rhinestones.

I want to also talk a bit about the colouring that I used to colour in the whimsical images in this set.

For the Unicorn I used a mixture of the Basic Gray to colour the edges of the Unicorn, then accented the mane with a mixture of Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo and Calypso Coral. I then blended the colours with a Blender Pen.

To add to the whimsical fun look I was going for I added a layer of Clear Wink of Stella over the top of my coloured images.

See the images below showing how I coloured all the images.

The second set I made of a card and matching treat bag I focused on the mermaid image and the One of a Kind sentiment.
I love the gorgeous glittered effects in the Myths& Magic Designer Series Paper. These beautiful bubbles are all glittered.

I used the Mini Treatbag Thinlets to create a star ‘see through’ accent on the bags and used a Window Sheet to cover this over.

I have accented all the treat bags with some Birthday Mini Binder Clips, Lemon Lime Twist Finely Woven Ribbon, Basic Rhinestones, Myths & Magic Washi Tape and Pool Party Bakers Twine.

The next card features the beautiful wizard image and the stunning purple Designer Series Paper.

I used the Ticket Tear Border Punch and some Basic Black cardstock to also create a fun layered element on all my cards.

The final card and treat bag is great for boys and men with a fun dragon. I used quite a mixture of colours to colour this dragon including; Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Real Red and Pumpkin Pie.

Visit stampinup.com/shop to select the Myths & Magic Suite to create these great projects and have some whimsical colouring fun!
