Hey there, SCT fans! Thanks for stopping by for day two of our Summer Issue Challenge Week! Today, Nathalie DeSousa is here to challenge us to create with a beautiful colour scheme with cool summer vibes. Let’s take a look at the inspiration and your next challenge!

………………………………

Hello crafty friends! It’s Nathalie with you to share a new project inspired by today’s colour challenge. There is nothing better than a bit of color to celebrate the fun-filled summer memories. Let’s check out the color palette we are using for this challenge:

All those breezy blues accented with green and purple were the inspiration for this page!

Supplies | Cardstock: Carta Bella, American Crafts; Patterned paper, cardstock stickers, chipboard stickers: Vicki Boutin for American Crafts Color Study collection; Enamel dots: Freckled Fawn; Sequins: Picket Fence Studios; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Digital files: SCT Summer 2020 issue flower cut files and July 2020 free cut file

I love all the blues in the color palette, so I selected cardstock that matches the lightest blue hue as the base for the layout. My first step was building my title using a combination of the “summer” die cut from the July 2020 free cut file and chipboard alpha stickers.

I die cut the word, “summer” five times from white cardstock. I stacked 4 of them together with a bit of glue, then cut the outline of the word from light blue cardstock and clear acetate. The blue cardstock was glued at the base of the cardstock stack. The cut out was filled with sequins; then, the acetate was glued atop of the letter stack, encasing the sequins inside the shape. Finally, the last white die cut was glued on top of the acetate to complete the shaker title!

What better way to bring all the colors onto the page than to use patterned paper! My choice, instead of paper layers, was to cut the small flowers using one of the free-cut files from the SCT Summer 2020 issue. I glued them onto the page creating a soft wave in the center of the layout, then added enamel dots to the center of each flower.

To balance the page, I cut a few strips of patterned paper and attached them to the bottom of the canvas. I created a small cluster of flowers that sits at the bottom of the page, then added a few more sticker embellishments throughout the page.

I hope this has inspired you to join in the challenge. I cannot wait to see what you create!
