It’s day three of our summer issue release challenge week, and today we have a colour challenge for you, and a layout inspired by it created by Erica Thompson! Let’s take a look at the beautiful colour scheme we’re asking you to create with, and how Erica interpreted it on a new layout!

……………………………

Hello SCT friends! It’s Erica here with you today to share a layout that I created using this awesome color scheme for inspiration, along with the Simple Stories I Am collection:

The colors in the image are a bit different from the colors in the collection, but I was able to pull out some of the colors from the image and create a beautiful layout! I focused on the pinks, squad, and yellows on my layout.

I knew I wanted to use a white background for my layout and add a splash of pink color to the background. I used some Catherine Pooler Designs ink in Rose Petal and Party Dress. To add color to my background, I used the packaging technique which is my favorite technique! It is quick and easy and not too messy! Apply some ink to an acrylic block, add some water with a mister and mix it up with a paintbrush. Use some plastic packaging to pick up color from the block and touch it to your paper! I also used my paintbrush to pick up some color to add some droplets around the page.

If you follow me, you know that I love a good cut file and the Scrapbook & Card Today site has a ton of great freebies! I used one of the bonus cutting files from April 2020, backing it with papers from the Simple Stories I Am collection in colors that coordinated with the color scheme challenge image. I popped up the cut file once it was backed with pattern paper—a great way to add dimension to your layout.

I recently had to get braces, and I wanted to take some photos to document it! I used Snapchat to add a fun filter and matted the photos on some Simple Stories I Am patterned paper. I used the ephemera to create a small cluster to the right of the photos and the top right corner.

I wanted to add a little something to the centers of the cut file flowers so I used the Simple Stories I Am Brads and word stickers from the 12×12 sticker sheet. The brads are a great way to add some texture to your project. To finish off my layout I added the #unstoppable gold word for my title.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! We hope you will join in on this color challenge, and we can’t wait to see what you create!
