Hello SCT fans! It’s Lisa Dickinson here today with a cut file challenge inspired by the summer issue. Here’s the cut file that I’m creating with, and that we would love to share with YOU! The adorable summer-themed circle cut file from Paige Evans is a free download from SCT and is sure to add the perfect seasonal touch to your warm-weather creations!

To celebrate the kick-off of summer vacation, I wanted a bright, colorful layout and there’s nothing like a rainbow to pack a colorful punch! I used 1-inch strips of cardstock (but a colorful striped patterned paper would work as well!) I love smooth cardstock from CTMH and they have a huge assortment of colors, perfect for creating a rainbow:

Supplies | Cardstock, patterned paper: Close To My Heart; Tags: American Crafts; Cut file: Scrapbook & Cards Today; Rhinestones: Creative Charms; Die cutting machine: Silhouette Cameo; Adhesive: American Crafts; Other: sequins

This cut file was ideal for reinforcing my summer theme with the cute flip flop, sunglasses, swimsuits, and starfish icons! After reducing the original 4-circle file to about 5 inches wide, I copied and pasted it three additional times to create a grid of circles for my background. Then, I just welded the design together before cutting it from white cardstock.

To make the summer icons stand out a bit more, I backed them with patterned papers that coordinated with the background stripes. It’s a subtle difference but adds a bit of pattern and a different color hue to help them pop!

Before I adhered the last red stripe, I typed out my journaling about 10” wide across the cardstock. Then I cut the final 1” strip and adhered it to the bottom edge of the page. A few gold embellishments finished the design!

If you’ve got summer projects on your mind, be sure to download this cute file and have fun creating!
