………………………

Hello friends, it’s Stacie here with you and I am so excited to be a guest on the SCT blog today! As we are slowly winding down summer, and the start of the new school year, however that may look for you, there is a feeling of fall in the air. But before we pull out all things pumpkin, I want to remind you not to forget to get your summer stories told! Today I want to share with you a weekly pocket page spread from July 2020.

Supplies | Elle’s Studio: August 2020 Kit, A New Day Stickers, Chipboard Tags, So Cool Puffy Stickers; Ali Edwards: July 2020 Stories by the Month Kit; Studio Calico: Sunset Bay Documenter Kit

I use a 12″x12″ album because I love that I, depending on the number of photos/stories for a specific week I have, can mix and match the size of not only the photos but page protectors too. For this week I knew I would be working with a 12″x12″ page protector with places for 4″x6″ and 3″x4″ elements on the left side and a 7″x12″ page protector with places for 4″x4″ and 3″x4″ elements on the right. Once I know what size page protectors I’m working with, the next step in my process is to print off my photos for the week. With the pictures printed and put into the pockets, I go through my kits/supplies. If I’m not working on a design team project and can use whatever supplies I want, I like going through and finding products from different companies that coordinate with each other. For this spread, I loved how bits and pieces from the August 2020 kit and add-ons from Elle’s Studio matched up with pieces from Ali Edward’s July Stories by the Month kit and the documenter kit from Studio Calico.

After my photos and supplies are ready to go, the next step is to tackle my journaling. I’m not a fan of my handwriting, so I almost always either type out or print out my journaling on the journaling tags or directly to the photos. By printing out the journaling you can get so much more of the story told than if you were writing it out. Plus I love the cohesiveness of how the typed journaling looks throughout my album.

Once the journaling is complete I move on to my favorite part: embellishments! I’m horrible about wanting to hoard my embellishments, but I’m working on that! Some weeks get little embellishment while others get a lot. I try to keep in mind the “rule” of a visual triangle or using odd numbers. I also like to use similar elements across the spread. In this case, it was chipboard and die cuts.

Before calling a spread complete, I look to see if there are any holes to add in some stamping. I love stamps and have so many in my stash, so I’m always looking for places and ways to use them. Sometimes I stamp directly on photos and other times I stamp onto journaling tags; in some cases, I do both! There really are no rules when it comes to you and how you want to document your stories.
