Hello, friends! It’s Karlla Dauer here, and I’m so happy to share a new project with you. Spring is the season that captures my heart. I love how fresh and bright it can be. I tried to bring all the inspiration from this season into my project.

When I started thinking about what to create for this project, I imagined something bright and a decoration focused on a specific point of the layout. I love this kind of detail—decoration that is delicate and at the same time draws attention. The Tea Garden collection from Simple Stories translated what I needed to bring my layout to life.

To create the background, I used the Fresh Air, Garden Party, and Be Happy papers. I cut the Be Happy paper into three strips and used fringe scissors on the long edges to add texture. I layered the fringes on the Garden Party paper at the right side of the layout, then topped the fringe column with the gingham Fresh Air paper. I sewed a seam to finish it off.

I added the three Journal Bits & Pieces tags over the fringe, leaving space between them and without completely covering the background detail, with foam tape. Then I added the photo and started decorating.

I love details, and I love mixing the elements of this collection in a delicate way. I could spend hours creating! These tags were designed to group the layout embellishments. The top tag, the focal point with the photo, and the others with a mix of mini titles, images, and phrases.

Foam tape is my work companion—like scissors, foam tape is always with me! Every detail of this layout was added with different heights of foam tape, creating varying dimensions. To finish, the decorative brads and enamel dots make everything even more perfect.

I absolutely LOVED creating this layout. I can’t wait for spring and to enjoy the beautiful moments of the season.
