Hello SCT friends! It’s Nathalie with you today to share a new layout and a fun technique that will have you adding texture and movement to your backgrounds! Most of my pages are inspired by the story and feel that I want to share, and adding a tactile element to the page is always a must for me. Since we are welcoming autumn today, what better way to share a fun way to add interest, movement, texture, and a fall-feel to the page than to share an easy way to combine all these with paper and stitching using the newest SCT Delivered kit, Autumn Afternoon!

What better way to bring the texture, movement, and color of autumn than with a cascade of leaves on the background? I used the beautiful SCT Delivered Autumn Afternoon kit to create this page (this kit is fall perfection!) and I followed a few simple steps to create my background:
This tutorial shows you how a few steps can bring those sweet falling leaves to the page! The texture on the stitching, the added sequin spark, and the simple curl on the leaves adds movement and dimension.
To make sure the photos are the focus of the page, I framed them with papers that contrast with that of the leaves and added just a few extra embellishments. I kept these very linear so that they contrast with the curves of the stitched lines and leaves. A bit of dimensional adhesive is all you need to pop your images off the page!
Not a fan of hand stitching? You can recreate this background with machine sewing, hand-drawn stitching, or try gluing thread to form the trails on the leaves. It is completely up to you to make this idea your own!
I hope this inspires you to add texture and dimension to your next page. We cannot wait to see what you create with this tutorial! Be sure to tag @sctmagazine and use the hashtag #sctmagazine when sharing on social media!

What a great idea for the leaves ????. Beautiful layout.
Love this. I just alcohol inked a bunch of background in fall colours I think would be perfect for this idea. I think I will die cut them in fall leaf shapes and do something similar with some fall photos I have of my youngest playing in the leaves. Thanks for the idea.
Love this! The leaves and the sequins sewn onto the page are fabulous elements. Gosh, I love fall!
