Hello, SCT friends! It’s Meghann Andrew with you today! I have a big assortment of A2 card-sized die cuts and embossing folders in my stash, and recently after creating a card with a beloved, layered die from Close to My Heart, I thought, “Why can’t I use this on a layout?” I set out to get creative and do just that!

Although a 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” background does not fit on a layout, by thinking outside of the box, you can use pieces of any fun die or A2 embossing folder that you may have in your stash to create a fun layout background, just like I created on this page:

Supplies | Patterned paper, cardstock, stickers, die cuts, enamel dots, gems, die cuts: Close to My Heart; Journaling card, stamp: Elle’s Studio; Other: twine

These die cut pieces created a border at the top and base of my layout, featuring the new Jingle Joy collection to record a special Santa holiday memory! By using colours from the collection to accent the page, I added pattern and texture together on the background, but you could easily use tone-on-tone hues for less contrast.

Watch me create this page in a process video! You’ll see me use this fun die with three different colours of cardstock, and add the rest of my page elements using Jingle Joy, which I just love!

I hope you’ll pull out your A2 card dies and embossing folders today, and start dreaming of the possibilities of using them on a scrapbook layout!
