Hi friends! I am so excited to be part of Tool Week here on the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog. If you have read any of my previous blog posts, you will know how much I love creating bright, bold layouts with pops of colour. Today I am here to share with you how I add a little sparkle to my pockets. Yes, foiling can add a little “tszuj” to a page and give it life. Curious how I made the magic happen? Read on to learn more about my process!

Supplies: Heidi Swapp Minc, Therm O Web Deco Foil – Silver, Bazzill Smooth White Cardstock, Ali Edwards Celebrate Digital Kit, Elle’s Studio Puffy Stars, Remington Noiseless Font.

In this 6 x 8-inch double pocket page layout, I documented my son’s socially distanced fifth birthday party. At the time, my son Sam loved all things Star Wars including droids, Wookies and stormtroopers. For this pocket page, I wanted to mimic the colour of the decorations and decor from his party. I chose black, white, and silver as the colour combination of my page and created custom journaling cards and chipboard pieces with accents of silver foil.

After opening up Ali Edwards’ Celebrate Digital kit in Photoshop Elements, I printed out custom journaling cards and accent pieces onto smooth, white Bazzill cardstock. It’s important to note that for the Minc to accept foil, you must use a laser printer to print out your digital elements. I turned on the Minc on the “4” setting to warm up. After placing my pieces in the Minc folder, with the silver Deco Foil over top, I ran my cards through the Minc.

The results show a bit of flair to my otherwise boring journaling and filler cards, not to mention an added banner saying that I direct the eye.

Lastly, I added black stars from Elle’s Studio to the journaling cards and die cuts and placed them in a visual triangle to add interest and dimension around the page.

Simple and chic, I hope my project has encouraged you to plug your Minc in and add some sparkle to custom journaling cards and DIY chipboard accent pieces. A great way to document a birthday celebration, foil can make any layout fabulous! Happy Tool Week and thanks for reading!
