Hi crafty friends! It’s Simeen from Simeen Creates and I am so honored and excited to be on the SCT Magazine blog to share a card celebrating fall. Fall is the season of cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice goodness, and vibrant colors that inspire. What better way to celebrate this beautiful time of year than by creating a handmade card?

Before picking up the Concord & 9th Autumn Inlay Die, I had to select the perfect color palette! I love using social media platforms like Instagram and Pinterest to save color combinations that inspire me. As I browse through my feeds, I keep an eye out for color combos that stick with me. The Swatchbook Dies from Concord & 9th make it so easy to organize my color swatches. I cut out strips of card stock in the colors that match the inspiration, creating a handy reference for my creative projects.

To get started I looked through my swatchbook and settled on the color combination of Powder, Midnight, Cayenne, Honeycomb, and Grapefruit. With my color palette set, it was time to dive into the die-cutting process!
Using my Spellbinders Platinum 6, I first cut out a full 4 1/2 by 5 1/4 panel of Powder – this was my card base. After popping all the pieces out, I glued the Powder base to a white card stock panel to give me something sturdy to adhere to.
Next, I moved on to the Honeycomb color. I carefully popped out the appropriate leaves and glued them onto the base, positioning them just right like a puzzle. From there, it was pretty much a rinse-and-repeat with the rest of the colors. I followed the same process for Midnight, Cayenne, and Grapefruit, making sure to keep the design balanced.
For the veins of the leaves, I decided to use a matte gold card stock to give it that extra shine. The metallic touch adds a beautiful contrast and elevates the overall look of the card.

After all the leaves were in place, it was time to build out my sentiment. Using the More to Say Dies from Concord & 9th, I cut out three layers of the “you’re so very kind” dies in white cardstock and one layer in the same matte gold cardstock I used for the leaf veins. For additional dimension, I cut out two layers of the shadow die—one in white and one in Midnight. After gluing the sentiment together, I adhered it to the leafy card base.

The vibrant colors, the glimmer of the gold, and the layered sentiment all come together to create a super festive fall card! I hope this inspires you to embrace the beauty of fall in your card making projects. Grab your supplies, explore your color palettes, and let your creativity shine. Happy crafting!
