It’s the final day of our Winter Issue Challenge Week, and we know that you’ll love today’s challenge hosted by Meghann Andrew! It serves as the perfect reminder to share some handmade joy with someone special this weekend! Let’s take a look!

…………………….

Hello, SCT friends! It’s Meghann Andrew here with you today, and I’m so excited that I get to wrap up this week of creativity with you! Not only do I have new cards and a challenge to share with you, but I also get to introduce you to a new product in the SCT shop! Hooray!

It’s December 1st, so if you haven’t already started, it’s time to create handmade holiday greeting cards that make for merry and bright wishes for those that we love! Take a look at my latest card designs:

Supplies | Scrapbook & Cards Today: Merry Everything Bundle, white cardstock; Concord & 9th ink and cardstock: Ballet Slipper, Stardust, Sea Glass, Peacock; Gina K Designs: blending brushes, Connect glue; Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L: 3D foam squares; Elle’s Studio: metal dies; Other: sequins, clear dots

To create these cards, I was lucky enough to get my hands on the brand new Merry Everything Bundle, designed by Cathy Zielske and Lisa Hetrick! Take a look:

The Merry Everything Bundle includes a 4 x 6-inch clear photopolymer stamp set, steel rule dies, and a high-quality stencil, and I had so much fun creating with these new products to produce a trio of cards!

I started with a simple and sweet single-layer card, but it looks anything more than ordinary! I selected my non-traditional colour scheme inspired by a sequin grouping I had in my stash and found the perfect hues from Concord & 9th to create it: Ballet Slipper, Stardust, Sea Glass, and Peacock. I just love the modern and clean trees included on the stamp and stencil, and I decided to combine both to create this colourful grouping. I love that you can stamp the large tree, then fill in the baubles with the stencil in a different colour! I also added subtle stripes to the Ballet Slipper tree using the stencil. Once my trees were complete, I added two sparkles and a star to the background, then stamped the perfect “peace + joy” sentiment.

Because I had all of those beautiful colours in the trees, I decided to cut down the white cardstock to allow for two colourful frames using Ballet Slipper and Peacock cardstock. A few clear dots added the perfect simple touch to finish off this card!

I decided to play more with my blending brushes and pull out the metal dies for my second card. The Merry Everything stencil includes the perfect background pattern and I began by centering it on an A2 piece of SCT-exclusive white cardstock, blending my chosen colours in rainbow order from the top to the bottom of the card. Once complete, I added one more pattern column on the left, and one more on the right. This stencil lines up perfectly, making it so easy to repeat the pattern!

My next step was simple but tedious, and totally worth it! I cut the “merry” word out three times from each cardstock colour, then used liquid glue to stack them together for lots of dimension. I adhered these to the card front, matching the sentiment colour to the colour in the background. To finish the sentiment, I stamped “and bright” onto white cardstock, then die cut it using an Elle’s Studio Banners metal die. I popped this up with dimensional adhesive at the bottom of the card. Just a few simple sequins finished off the card front, and I framed it with an A2 piece of Peacock cardstock.

At the beginning of this post, I mentioned creating a trio of cards, but you’ll have to hop over to my Instagram feed today to see the third card—a fun and festive shaker! Here’s a peek:

I had SO much fun creating these holiday cards, and my wish for you is that you’ll enjoy the creative process as you craft a card for today’s challenge! Happy creating, my friends!
