Welcome to day two of our Winter Issue Challenge Week, everyone! Today’s challenge is a cool and wintry colour scheme selected by creative team member Victoria Calvin that will push you beyond the limits of the traditional winter colour scheme to create a beautiful project, as Victoria is showing us today! Let’s take a look!

Hello friends! This is Victoria and I am back with a stunning project and colour challenge for Winter Issue Challenge Week! For today’s project, I am using the Spellbinders Winter Welcome Sled Etched Dies to create this adorable card:

Supplies | Spellbinders: Winter Welcome Sled Etched Dies, Card Kit of the Month, Forevergreen embossing folder, Platinum 6 emboss and die cutting machine; DCWV: Metallics Mat Stack foil cardstock; Cardstock Warehouse: solid cardstock; Bearly Art: liquid glue

To begin, I selected a cool color palette consisting of lavender, light blues, greens, and a hint of pink. While I enjoy using traditional colors for winter projects, there is something so fresh and inviting about projects that feature a cool color palette!

Using the Spellbinders Winter Welcome Sled Etched Dies, I cut each component using a variety of solid cardstock based on my selected color palette –  lavender for the poinsettia, light blue and green for the leaves, white for the ice skates (accented with silver metallic cardstock), and gray cardstock for the sled. This color combination is stunning and perfect for a winter-themed card!

Once the elements were cut, I assembled the sled, floral elements, and ice skates as shown, and backed the entire piece with foam adhesive for added dimension. Next, I used a metal die from the Spellbinders Oh What Fun Card Kit of the Month along with silver metallic cardstock to create the Noel sentiment.

To create the card base, I cut a piece of white cardstock to 4 x 5.25 inches and embossed the panel using the Spellbinders Forevergreen embossing folder, The evergreen design coordinates perfectly with the winter sled and floral accents.

To complete this project, I adhered the sled element and the “Noel” sentiment to the embossed card panel. Lastly, I added the entire panel to an A2-size card base. And with that, this card project is complete!

I hope you are inspired by this cool color palette because that is your challenge for today, friends. Have fun creating!
