Cardmakers are awesome! Let me commend you, my SCT friends, for making it this far into the wonderful World Cardmaking Day. I know you've had oodles of inspiration so far, I hope you'll find some in my card. I used this sketch on page 62 because I still love doilies!!!
But, my doily was too plain so I decided to improvise instead. I had this great paper from the September 2014 Cocoa Daisy kit that I cut up and attached to the left side of the card so it was roughly in the same shape as a doily. I adhered some of the flowers and leaves, and popped up the rest. I love the dimension it gives.
The paper is sold out, but you can download a free printable from the Cocoa Daisy website if you'd like to duplicate this card.
I could have cut a new tag with my Silhouette, but then the brilliant idea bulb went off in my head. I could cut the tag and splice it behind the word strip!
I figured if I'd spend so much time trying to figure out the best way to make that work before the brilliant idea bulb went off, maybe I wasn't the only one, so I'd share it with you as my tip for today. You can hide lots of shortfalls behind things when you are creating cards. Like lots!
You'll also notice the Maya Road lace trim I used is on "upside down" by regular usage standards? Yes, I really like the tiny scallop edge, so I do that often, sometimes trimming the banner pieces off, but this time it worked well to give me the bulk I needed since I had so much dimension already. 🙂 And you can't see it, so yay!
Good luck with the cardmaking and giveaways today! SCT has the best partners, their giveaways are amazing! And Catherine puts her whole heart and soul into making this day amazing, so join me in a little hurrah for Catherine! HURRAH! 🙂 (edited by Catherine…so not necessary Em, but thank you! xoxox)
