In our spring issue we fell in love with the "you are my sunshine" layout on page 72 by Laureen Wagener and wanted to know a little more from Laureen about this project! Here is what Laureen had to say about it!
"I was away on vacation with my parents and wanted to scrapbook so I took some supplies with me! Of course I couldn't bring my beloved Silhouette so I needed to get creative with the idea I had in mind. I saw a painting of an umbrella catching raindrops and I immediately knew I had to transform that into a layout.
I drew the shape of an umbrella and the different sections of it and traced them onto patterned paper and simply pieced them together. Stitching gave the final touch. I wanted to use a picture of me and my best friend and decided to turn the raindrops into little hearts ;) The supplies I had on hand were absolutely perfect for creating a long title with different letters!
Thank you so much for reading how this page came together – I definitely had fun creating it and it was a nice change to scrap without many supplies on hand!" ~ Laureen

Really cool layout! Love the paper-pieced umbrella. Thanks for the inspiration! :) ~ Andrea
how clever! I have an umbrella die, but never thought about using it upside down. Love the light and fresh look of the card!
