Mother’s Day is quickly approaching and is such a wonderful time of year to celebrate and create for. Sharing handmade cards with sisters, friends, aunts, grandmothers, and mothers allows you to think of each special lady in a very personal way and create something heartfelt just for them.
I pulled out my favorite florals for my cards today, because whenever I think of my mom, beautiful flowers come to mind :). I used the gorgeous, You’re So Lovely stamp set and coordinating die cuts from Hero Arts on my first card, stamping the large blooms on watercolor cardstock in watermark ink, and then heat embossing each using white embossing powder. They look so beautiful watercolored. I then tucked in some leaves and berries and attached the top portion of my sentiment across the center of my flowers.
At the bottom of my card, I pulled all of the colours together using some fun, plaid paper from My Favorite Things and then stamped “mom” on a strip of cardstock using the Botanical Lowercase stamp set from Papertrey Ink.
Cloches are everywhere right now, from home decor to gifts and now paper-crafting and stamping. I used the Cloche Quarters stamp set from Papertrey Ink on my next card, selecting tiny flowers in a bowl that reminds me of my Grandma Thelma, who passed away many years ago, but thoughts of her and her amazing green thumb always make me smile.
I wanted the background of my card to be very soft and subtle, so I used one of my most favorite, newer products, available from My Favorite Things, the Cloud Stencil. This allows you to create layers of soft clouds by simply sponging on color over the stencil.
All that was left was to stamp my sentiment and add a bit of lilac baker’s twine and then package it up for someone special.
