My favorite part of the scrapbooking process is the embellishing. I love picking out the perfect details for a page  - from chipboard and flair to jewels and buttons, it’s all fair game! Of course, it’s easy to go overboard with these fun finishing touches, so keep a page from being overwhelmed with embellies, I follow this tip:  Color Coordinate!

By grouping embellishments of the same color together, I’m able to add lots of product to this design and still keep it organized and focused on the photo. I used the circles of patterned paper as my guide, adding pink embellishments to the pink paper, blue embellishments to the blue papers, etc.

By “color coordinating” each embellishment cluster, I’m able to add lots of pieces to the page without it looking chaotic or cluttered. In fact, there are more than 30 embellishments in this design! But because they are grouped together by color, the eye sees them as single units, rather than separate, individual items.

So the next time you want to put a significant dent in that embellishment stash, try color coordinating clusters on your layout! Happy Scrapping!
