Happy Monday, friends! Like last week, with the start of a fresh week, we have a new face to share for our 2024 Creative Team! Say hello to the lovely Andrea Lake!

We got to know Andrea well over the past year as we worked with her in her fantastic class, Mini Albums 101, and we could not be more thrilled to have her join the team. Let’s get to know Andrea a bit better today!

Hi, friends! My name is Andrea Lake and I am from Venezuela. I love the idea of creating memories and preserving them in creative ways. I live in the United States with my husband, kids, and our furry sidekick, Astro. By day, I’m conquering the hospitality scene, but deep down, I’m a spirited educator and memory enthusiast. In my free time, you’ll catch me in my element, spreading smiles and creative vibes, and making colorful and dimensional paper crafting projects. I’m currently working with fabulous products from companies like Simple Stories, American Crafts & We R Makers, and PinkFresh Studio. Beyond that, I love sharing everything I know in both virtual and in-person paper crafting events. One of my goals in 2024 is to transition from hospitality into the crafting industry full-time. Here’s to a year filled with creativity, color, and joy!

What is your favorite technique, Andrea?

Layering. I love creating dimension by layering different products and textures.

What is one of your crafty goals in the upcoming year?

I have a few goals, but the most significant one for me is to transition from hospitality into the crafting industry full-time.

What new project type or technique is on your “must-try” list?

I am looking forward to trying the new Letterpress technique. I’ve had the Betterpress tool for a few weeks now, and I have been watching a few tutorials before I dive into it. I am almost there!

If you had one piece of advice for a new paper crafter, what would it be? I recently shared these three pieces of advice as part of a group activity: 1) Stay curious, explore new techniques, materials, and styles, and always stay open to learning and adapting your skills; 2) Enjoy the process: create, experiment, and learn without comparing yourself with others; 3) Be your friends’ and peers’ biggest cheerleader. There is room for all of us, and we can achieve greatness when we work together and support each other.

What are you most excited about in your craft for 2024? I am excited about education being the focus for some companies in the industry. For someone who values learning and development as much as I do, I couldn’t be happier. On the same note, I am thrilled about my first Crop & Create Delivered event as an educator and joining the SCT Design Team. It has been a dream and a goal of mine for a few years now.
