Hello, there, and happy Friday! We are so happy that you stopped by to find out who the next member of our 2024 Creative Team is. Without further ado, let’s welcome back the lovely Jess Forster!

Jess has been a long-time team member, Crop & Create instructor, and friend, and we are so happy to have her back on the team! Let’s get to know Jess a bit better today!

Living in Toronto, Ontario Canada, with her husband, two kids, and bernedoodle dog, Jess is a pediatric social worker by day and a modern memory keeper by night. When she is not recording her life details in heartfelt journaling or using big bold photos in her layouts, you can find Jess training for her first 70.3 Ironman Triathlon in 2024 and drinking too much coffee. Jess has been active in the paper crafting community for the last 10 years, working on creative teams including Ali Edwards, Elle’s Studio, and Project Life. Jess loves meeting fellow memory keepers at Crop + Create events in person and online.

What is your favourite design tip, Jess?

Less is more. Working with one collection of well-designed products can be a great way to give your pages a cohesive look.

What is your favourite color combination?

Depends on the project! When I document everyday life, I love working with, blues, greens, black, and whites. I love a good traditional colour scheme of red and greens for Christmas projects. I guess it all depends on what is sitting on my crafty desk.

What is your favourite type of project to create and why?

I love returning to the same type of project over and over again. I love to make everyday life pocket pages, like documenting Week In the Life, because it shows how my family and I have grown over the years. I also love the challenge of “seeing” the story differently through the lens of my camera.

What new project type or technique is on your “must-try” list?

Cardmaking! I am so inspired by what I see online. Cards feel like a manageable way to play with paper right now and I am here for it. I am here to make mistakes, learn new techniques, and just try something new.

What are you most excited about in your craft for 2024?

All these years later, I am still excited by the process. Taking photos, playing with paper, and telling stories continue to be what I am most excited about.

Jess loves pocket pages, she creates beautiful layouts, and mini albums, too! Let’s take a look at a few of her recent favourite projects:

We just love Jess’ clean, graphic style and emphasis on the stories of her life, and we can’t wait to share more of Jess’ projects with you this year here on the blog, in our Crop & Create Delivered events, and possibly in an episode of Cropped!
