Hello Monday and hello to all our SCT friends! Today our friends Tracy Banks (aka Mercy Tiara!) is here with another Find Your Mojo Process Video: Deconstruction Zone! She shares a fabulous process using the brand new Hustle and Heart collection from friend Amy Tangerine for American Crafts! Let’s get this Monday started…
“Have you ever felt overwhelmed by all your pretty supplies? Do you know what embellishments you like, but don’t know how to get them on a page? In this Find Your Mojo episode we are using a style that I call “deconstructed layouts” as a way to get your mojo flowing. These deconstructed pages use very little to no layering, and simply involve laying out your favourite or most relevant embellishments to your story, and then gluing them down to your background page. This is a very unique style of layout, that adds some visual interest and variety to your scrapbook album, and also takes very little time to create. Even if this style of scrapbooking is not your forte, making a deconstructed page can be a great way to get your creative juices flowing, get a quick page out of the way, and then move on to create more pages that may be more in line with your typical style. It’s also a wonderful way to use up leftover embellishments! For this page, I used the wildly fun Hustle and Heart collection from Amy Tangerine and American Crafts. In the video, I also show a few of my older deconstructed layouts.”
Layout took 1 hour to complete and used a 3.5 x 3.5 inch photo.

This style of layout is taking me back. I forgot how fun a page can be when you just add your favourite embellishments without worrying about all that layering and it takes no time at all. Yay Mercy! I’m also loving this new Amy Tangerine collection, especially those letters in the title. I love her handwriting!
Loved the “Stay Wild” video and the deconstruction style of scrapbooking. What a fun thing to try especially when you have a lot of embellishments to use up. I am looking forward to giving this a try!
Love this.
Great layout!
I love the new “Hustle and Heart” collection Amy Tangerine collection! The layout is great – love the lack of layering! Thanks for sharing.
Such a cool layout!
It was fun watching you create this awesome tiger layout.
Very creative layout!! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome layout! Loved watching the creative process take place – it’s nice to know that even professionals arrange and rearrange until they arrive at something they like.
Wild & fun! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ this whimsical collection! It is reminiscent of the ’70’s in my opinion and I think that is pretty cool!
The placement of the photo is perfection! It really gives this layout so much more awesomeness! TFS!
Wonderful layout! Love the wild theme. Totally cool.
Very creative…too fun!
Lots of colours that work cohesively. That tiger is fierce.
Very creative and I love the idea of using more embellishments.
Too cute!!
So fun to watch you put this together – I always feel like my layouts are too random, even when I don’t mean them to be, and then voila, suddenly it all works! Don’t know why I never thought of cutting the middle out of a page that works as a background; what a great way to save some of that beloved paper!
Loved the letters and the felt dots, great layout!
Sometimes simple is best.
I love Tracy’s You Tube videos!
This is a very creative layout.
Ha! This layout would be a perfect one to use with a picture my nephew in law took with his children a couple of weeks ago while his wife was taking care of her parents! Love the Mercy Tiara YouTube videos!
What a fun way of constructing a page. Great way to use up some embellishments.
What a cute layout! Thanks for sharing!
Great video and Fun contest.
Yeah I wish I could use more embellishments on my way-too-plain layouts. Thanks for the opportunity to win.
wat a great video! wat a great idea to use your leftover embellishments to scrapbook easy page layouts. thank you for sharing and i would like to get my mojo back with my pages.
#memories matter #keep it simple
Such a cute layout … I definitely want to try this “deconstructed” style!
Thank you for this demonstration. At first I didnt get what you were doing, but eventually it all made sense. Great idea. Inspiration, get your mojo going. Love the border you put around the page, that really tied it together, and stitching! How awesome, and adding the additional stitching around was such a great way to tie it together as well. Great layout design. And, I agree.. some pages like this in a book or for a picture that you want to keep but the story isnt long.. great great idea. Thanks for sharing!
Totally cool LO, need to try that ?
Love it!
I like the big kitty !
Love this!! The embellishments are great without making the layout look too busy! The stitching adds a nice touch – something I must try.
This was an interesting video… it was strange not to have things touch so they look like they belong together, but the end result was beautiful. Going to try this technique soon!!
I can’t wait to try this method … this whole mojo series has been great!
I usually layer my embellishments. I’ll have to try this style of scrapping! I love this layout & collection!
I like to mix up my pages a little bit. This layout has given me a much needed boost! Thanks for sharing.
I love the easy flow of the layout, it feels uncomplicated and fun ?
Wow! Awesome layout!!!
I’m loving the randomly placed embellishments throughout the page. Great way to use up some leftovers, or better yet a new collection.
I love this! I think what I love the most is that none of the embellishments are hiding. They are all front and center is their beautiful glory!!
Thanks for the great idea in using up embellishments. I have an open package on my desk right now that keeps falling all over the place so I’m going to find a picture and try this method.
Love the theme and awesome layout – thanks for sharing:)
What fun layouts, so playful!
I like this way to start a warm up and I am like you when it comes to saving paper. It’s definitely a way to get in touch with the supplies we may have too much of.
Fabulous layout and video!!! Great use of the embellishments!!!
So clever and funny! Love it.
What a good combo of images. They really flow well.
