Autumn Afternoon Inspiration with Erica Thompson

Hello SCT friends! It’s Erica here with you today, sharing a new layout using the new SCT Delivered Autumn Afternoon kit! This kit is packed with gorgeous products from your favorite designers and includes exclusives that you’ll only find here, like a beautiful stamp set and wood veneer words! You will love the rich colors and beautiful patterns included in this fall kit. 

I really wanted to showcase the beautiful pattern papers in the Autumn Afternoon kit so I used the Honeycomb free cut file from the SCT website. I used my Silhouette Cameo 3 and some white American Crafts textured cardstock from my stash to cut out the file. I backed the Honeycomb cut file with different patterned papers from the kit. When I back a cut file, I try to pick the patterns I want to use first. I choose a few busier patterns and then some more neutral ones, making sure I have a good mix of patterns and colors while keeping it pleasing to the eye. Once my papers are chosen, I can begin to back the cut file. 

I knew I was going to use one of the cardstocks included in the Autumn Afternoon kit for my background, so I left some of the honeycombs open so the background could peek through. Once my cut file was backed, I tried it out on all of the colored cardstocks included in the Autumn Afternoon kit and decided to go with the beautiful Bazzill Dark Kraft cardstock. 

To add interest to the page I used white acrylic paint from my stash to add splatters to the background. To do this, I added a small amount of the paint to an acrylic block and mixed in a few drops of water. I used a paint brush to pick up the paint and splatter the background. 

I adhered three photos of our Liam Jay to the page. The largest photo was adhered directly to the layout using a tape runner and I used foam adhesive to pop up the smaller photos, adding dimension and interest. I created a few embellishment clusters using the die cuts included in the Autumn Afternoon kit. I used one of the wood titles included in this kit for part of my title and mixed it up by adding the beautiful American Crafts Thickers. To add more texture, I threaded one of the wood buttons with twine included in the kit and tied a small bow, then adhered the button to the center of one of the floral die cuts. 

To finish off my layout I added a few of the Simple Stories Cozy Days enamel dots and some typed journaling using my We R Memory Keepers typewriter.
