Good morning, SCT friends! It’s Sheri Reguly here today, with an Easter themed home decor project to share with you.

One of my favorite home decor projects to create is framed wall art. I’m going to start off by sharing not only a cost saving tip with you but one that I find to be very practical as well. I use the same frame all year long, and simply swap out the art to suit the season. (In between seasons, the frame holds a favorite quote or art print.)

With Easter just around the corner, it was time to create a new seasonally-themed piece to fill the frame. As soon as I spotted the “Splendor Collection” from My Minds Eye, I knew it was the perfect choice for what I had in mind.

My first step was to create an 11”x14” background using cream colored cardstock. I trimmed a 12”x12” sheet down to 11”x12” and cheated by adhering additional 1” pieces to the back of both the top and bottom edges. These “extensions” were then covered up by adhering 1.5” blocks of patterned paper across the top and bottom edges. I simply moved the blocks around until I came up with an arrangement that I liked. (*The corner blocks measure 1.75”x1.5”. This was to allow me to center the blocks, without having to add an awkward .25” piece of patterned paper to each edge.)

Next, I cut and adhered thin strips of striped patterned paper to create clean edges along the blocks of patterned paper. I turned to my Silhouette to cut a simple oval shape and Easter greeting from black cardstock. After centering and adhering these to my background, it was time to embellish using these gorgeous flower stickers and ephemera pieces. A couple were simply adhered as is, but the majority were adhered using adhesive foam to add some wonderful dimension. By using different thicknesses of foam, it creates even more visual interest.

Finally, I incorporated a trio of enamel dots, and two decorative brads to add the finishing touch. Simply insert the finished piece into your frame and it’s ready to display.
