Hello, there scrappers! It’s Lisa Dickinson here today, sharing some inspiration from the newest spring issue of SCT Magazine. I always love the spring issue because it’s packed with fresh, colorful projects that make me want to break out of winter hibernation and create!

I was especially interested in the patchwork projects and loved the bright and happy page by Paige Evans on page 26. There’s even a free cut file to go along with this vibrant layout! Here’s my take on this awesome design:

Supplies | Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; Patterned paper, stickers & die cuts: Reaching Out collection from Jen Hadfield for Pebbles; Patterned paper: Crate Paper; Cut files: Blue Star Design; Punch: Creative Memories; Electronic die cutting machine: Silhouette Cameo; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

Digital cut files like this grid-based design or the quilt-inspired design Paige used are perfect for incorporating lots of pattern and color on a page—just like a real quilt! The thin borders of the cut file help organize the design and provide the perfect spots for small scraps of patterned paper!

To fill in the squares of this background, I used a square paper punch, but you could also use a paper trimmer to cut out squares as well! I applied a liquid adhesive along the borders of the cut file and adhered each square to the backside.

With all the colorful patterns in the background, this page didn’t need much embellishment. A few simple stickers and strips of journaling complete the design!
