Happy Friday, everyone! It may be winter, but today we’re turning up the heat with our friends at Therm O Web, who are sharing their new line of Deco Foil HOT Foils! Foiled elements are a big papercrafting trend right now, and this new range of beautiful foils will help you to amp up your foiling game, and give you so many more options foiling! Let’s take a look, and don’t forget to find today’s giveaway, as well as last week’s winner, at the end of this post!

Hello, SCT friends! We are so excited to be with you today to share a brand-new Therm O Web product release: Deco Foil HOT Foils. Available in a range of beautiful colours, including solids and holographics, Deco Foil® HOT Foils will help you make every project sparkle and shine!
Designed to work with most standard hot foiling systems and your favourite hot foiling plates, Deco Foil HOT Foils can be used on a variety of materials, including cardstock, ribbon, leather, and fabric. You can also create foiled designs using wafer-thin metal dies, great for borders and other details.
Here, Suzanna Lee used our Gold HOT Foil to add delicate foil touches to a special layout documenting a sweet family holiday tradition: buying a new collar for their cat, Luna. Have you thought about adding foil to your layouts? Those same colourful branches, leaves, and berries would also look stunning on holiday cards.
If you’ve used our Deco Foil Transfer Foils, you might be wondering, “Why hot foils?” As more and more papercrafters expand their foiling tools and skills, we wanted to provide a fun range of hot foils to complement our original transfer foils, which do not work for hot foiling. And, with so many people searching for “What’s the difference between Deco Foil and hot foil?” we thought we could make it a little easier to understand since we now offer both types of foil.
Original Deco Foil Transfer Foil in the black label is for toner-printed items like Deco Foil Toner Sheets & Card Fronts that work with a hot laminator to transfer the foil, as well as our wide range of Deco Foil Transfer Gels & Adhesives. Some Deco Foil adhesives require heat from a laminator, some only require pressure from a die-cutting machine, but they all require some sort of adhesive or toner printing. Transfer foil comes in 6”x12” sheets (in a tube) or 12.5” x 25-foot rolls. It is also slightly thicker than hot foil. It will not work with hot foiling plates and hot foiling systems.
New Deco Foil HOT Foil in the white label is only for hot foiling systems like the Spellbinders Glimmer and Crafter’s Companion Gemini Foilpress. You must use hot foil (also known as “hot stamp foil”) with a hot foiling system and hot foiling plates; the adhesive is built into the foil sheet itself and is activated by the high heat and pressure from the hot foiling machine. Hot foil comes in 5” x 15-foot rolls. It is also slightly thinner than transfer foil. It will not work with toner-printed items, laminator techniques, or Deco Foil adhesives.
Amanda Wilcox used our Copper HOT Foil to add a sentiment and shining accents to a colourful autumn card. Such fine foiled details are easy to create with hot foiling plates, without the need for any additional adhesive. Many hot foiling plates also come with coordinating dies, allowing you to create unique embellishments fast. To pop up her foiled leaf die cuts, Amanda used our iCraft 3D Foam Tape.
Shemaine Smith created a festive pair of holiday cards using our colour-shifting Twilight HOT Foil for the bold poinsettia design and our faceted Gold Unicorn HOT Foil for the sparkling golden sentiment on the petite poinsettia card. The Twilight HOT Foil looks like a deep navy blue at first glance but turns it in the light to catch glimmers of teal and purple. It’s magical! And the Gold Unicorn is like a micro-mini version of our popular Gold Shattered Glass transfer foil; so, so, so sparkly!
Speaking of sparkle, here’s a peek at our Silver Unicorn HOT Foil, showing how the hot foils look equally incredible on dark and light backgrounds. Look at all that rainbow-hued, diamond-like iridescence! And a quick tip: while over-foiling can sometimes be an issue when using hot foiling plates, we found that a light touch with a piece of our Pixie Tape easily lifted light over-foiling from our cardstock.
Katrina Hunt created two types of hot foiled embellishments for her beautiful “Always Take the Scenic Route” layout, using just one piece each of our Gold and Orchid HOT Foils: outline butterflies on vellum and solid butterflies on cardstock. The step-out photos show the process of first creating the outline butterflies using the Small Butterflies Hot Foil Plate from Pinkfresh Studio, die cutting them, and then using a solid hot foiling plate to foil the “negative” onto a piece of cardstock to create solid butterflies that are also die cut. We love no-waste foiling techniques that result in twice as many ready-to-use embellishments! Refer to your hot foiling system owner’s manual for the best results.
Justin Adkins created a shining trio of hot foiled cards that showcase six HOT Foils colors: Gold and Rainbow Dreams for the Thinking of You Card, Silver Stardust and Pool Blue for the Let It Snow Card, and Chili Red and Gold Unicorn for the Hello Card. Justin shared the how-to’s in a Facebook LIVE earlier this week; you can catch the replay on our Therm O Web YouTube channel.
Finally, since we’re less than a week away from Thanksgiving here in the US, we had to share Larissa Heskett’s sweet, foiled pumpkin Thankful Card, featuring our Gold Stardust HOT Foil. We think every card should shine with foil, whether you choose new HOT Foils or our original Transfer Foils.
Deco Foil HOT Foil is the newest addition to our line of Deco Foil transfer sheets, tools & adhesives designed for pressure-sensitive, laminator, and toner-printed applications. Now, Deco Foil HOT Foil expands the line to even more foiling techniques, in 19 gorgeous shades to fire up your creativity!
Deco Foil HOT Foil will help you turn up the heat on holiday cardmaking! To enter for a chance to win THE COMPLETE COLLECTION, all 19 colors, just leave a brief comment on this post telling us your favorite holiday cardmaking theme. I just bought a hot foil machine! Those are beautiful colors! Can’t wait to try.
For my Christmas cards, I choose typical greenery like trees or wreaths for my theme. I want to reflect the holiday itself; not winter.
I love all things foil! Thanks for the opportunity to win.
I like christmas cards with non traditional colors such as blue and silver or pinks.

This is amazing I love foil but I use it more on images than in my cardmaking! In the christmas season I love to make elfs or traditional colors to gift to my loved ones!
Thanks for providing the details on the foils. My favorite holiday theme this year appears to be snowflakes, even though it seldom snows in Houston!
My favorite holiday cardmaking theme is poinsettias! So lovely!!
Oh these are so beautiful! My favourite theme is pretty traditional with Christmas greenery – poinsettias, hollies, evergreen boughs, that sort of thing.
I love making holiday cards with different critters and characters. The cuter the better!

These are beautiful colors! I love snowmen and red trucks for cards at Christmas!
My favorite holiday theme is vintage, with the red truck, Christmas trees, sleds, mixed in with some Buffalo plaid and Kraft paper!
Every year MY Christmas card theme changes, but every year, the cards I make for my mother must include TREES. And she’s so traditional, the trees must be green!
I just purchased a hot foil machine and I’m super excited about playing with it! This collection of new foils is amazing! Love all of the colors! For my Christmas cards, I love using angels. I have several new stamp sets with angels, and I’m looking forward to making lots of cards with them.
I like to make trees and forest scenes for my cards. Foiling gives them an extra special look.
Beautiful cards! The foils look awesome!
I love snowflakes for my holiday cards!
Thrilled to see these hot foils since I just got the Glimmer.
Hmm, I make a variety of Christmas cards but most often they will have pine trees or a pine sprig somewhere on there.
Seriously generous give away Thermoweb!! I love the look of wreaths on Cmas cards. They are so festive and contrast with the rectangular shape of the card.
Fantastic post! Lots of great information! I always worry about mixing up my foils, so I store them separately. I didn’t think I had a favorite theme for my holiday cards, but looking through the ones I’ve made over the past 20+ years, it seems I do snowflakes a lot! Haha
Beautiful projects, my favorite card making theme is using Nativity scenes,
I change my theme every year for my cards. This year’s have snowflakes. The foiled cards are beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration and opportunity to win.
I love the ThermOWeb hot foils and really enjoyed watching Justin Adkins’ live demo using the new foils.
My favorite card theme to create is is poinsettias. They were my mamas favorite flowers!
Yes! I love snowflakes, poinsettias and reindeer! And sometimes altogether ????. I have yet to design this years card. I am looking at doing Harvey!
I tend to gravitate toward ornaments, however, my die collection may beg to differ as I have dozens of snowflake dies. Love that Therm-o-Web now has hot foil. I’m hoping to make retro ornaments for my card theme next year and have yet to find the perfect colors of foil for them
Am loving your kitty layout with the foiled elements! Great foiling colors especially!
Love all this sparkle!
