Hello crafty friends, it’s Virginia Nebel here to share with you a fun project I designed for the Spring 2023 Issue using the Doodlebug Design Day-to-Day calendar pages and LDRS Creative slimline dies. Take a look at what you’ll find on page 11:

Supplies | Doodlebug Design: cardstock, patterned paper, enamel dots, ephemera, stickers; LDRS Creative: Elegant Stitched Frames slimline dies; Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L: adhesive; American Crafts: letter stickers

I created this set of six colourful folios with the Day-t0-Day 12 x 12-inch calendar pages from Doodlebug Design and embellished them, combining LDRS Creative Elegant Stitched Frames slimline dies with a mix of Doodlebug ephemera.

Here’s how to create the base folio:

Take one 12 x 12-inch calendar paper, and score it vertically at the 4” and 8” marks. Rotate the paper 90 degrees and score 3.5” from the bottom. Rotate and return the paper to its original position. With scissors, cut notches from the bottom edge of the paper up to the top line of the bottom grid row (the cut is approx. 2.5” long) as shown in the diagram below. These angled cuts will help the folio fold flatter.

After you have scored and cut the paper, fold the bottom section up, the right side into the middle, and then the left side into the middle to create your folio! I created belly bands to keep the folios closed. Tip: Create the belly band after you have finished decorating the front of the folio so that there is enough space for the belly band to slide on and off smoothly.Shown below are some examples of how versatile these folios can be in your memory keeping. Wouldn’t it be fun to have ready-made tags or card fronts for your important birthday card list?

How about crafting some positive intentions? This intentions folio can be within easy reach for that time when you need some encouragement or just a positive lift in your day.

Lastly, the folio calendar base makes for a perfect one-month view of your daily details. The little calendar numbers and monthly titles are available in the Day-to-Day collection to create your month-in-review. It would be awesome to create a folio for every month of the year!

Hope you enjoyed this easy DIY project and are inspired to make your own set of folios. It would make for a beautiful display in your craft space or on your desk, have a wonderful day!
