I love using floral sets in different ways (for example, using them to frame a sentiment), and using a sketch like this one makes it easier to incorporate different design elements into your project. The best part about using a sketch: there are no rules! You can customize it to your liking and in this case, I flipped it and made it a top-opening, vertical card and used the die sets slightly different than they were intended to be used to create fullness. The sky’s the limit with sketches, and with every issue, there are so many to choose from!

To construct this sketch and card with multiple layers and patterned paper, I started with a 5.5” x 4.25” white card base, folded in half for a top fold. Using the largest frame die from Honey Bee Stamps’ Lovely Layers Posted die set, I die-cut gingham-patterned paper, then repeated the process with a slightly smaller white cardstock piece. After layering them, I die-cut a dotted patterned paper using the shaped frame die from the same set and adhered it over the white to complete the card base.

Honey Bee Stamps recently released the stunning Lovely Layers Sweetheart Roses die set and I just couldn’t resist incorporating it into this card! Opting for a more traditional color palette, I double-cut the leaves in two different shades of green, and the roses in coral and pink. To add a bit of dimension, I blended ink onto each layer of rose petals before securing them together. I repeated this process twice, creating a floral cluster for each corner of the card. I adhered the lighter green stems slightly offset behind the dark green for a subtle highlight. After completing the assembly, I attached the roses using thin foam adhesive and trimmed the excess. To finish the roses, I adorned the stems and leaves with green pearl embellishments.

Finally, I stamped ‘Hello, my friend’ using the Honey Bee Stamp Best Of Everything stamp set in pink and adhered it to the card using foam adhesive to complete the card! That’s it for today, and if you see a sketch or idea that inspires you, be sure to give it a try!
