Hi there! It’s Daniel West, from Del & Artie here, with an intricate and inspirational card to share with you today for Card Week here at the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog!

When I first started stamping in 2018, galaxy backgrounds had all our oohs and ahhs! Then, after a while, they took a back seat to newer trends, like slimline cards. I really, really enjoy making galaxy backgrounds, and would love to see them back on trend again. Don’t you think a two-year hiatus is long enough?

Furthermore, galaxy backgrounds holler for little details like dark clouds and stars of all sizes. They fit perfectly with today’s intricate and inspirational theme!

Supplies | Hero Arts Starry Clouds Infinity Dies, Love You Stamp & Cut XL, Hero Arts Inks – Butter Bar, Rose Madder, Grape Juice, Black, Versamark Ink, Pitch Black and Dove White cardstock, Top Folding Dove White Cards, Hero Arts Blending Brushes, Hero Hues Clear Enamel Dots, Posca White Paint Markers, Copic 110 Special Black marker, Precision Glue

Galaxy backgrounds pay off with a huge wow factor but forgive you for imprecision. As you playfully add ink to your paper with splotches of colors here and there, your mess turns into a masterpiece with a few strokes of black ink and white paint!

Watch the galaxy come together in this video:

Tip: You can create your own galaxy backgrounds with different colors. Colors that sit next to each other in the rainbow work best. Try three adjacent hues, plus black, and see how many combinations you can make!

Then, add some kind of scenery to the panel. Mountains would work beautifully. Of course, a spaceship with little aliens would also fit well!  I framed my background with Hero Arts Starry Clouds Infinity Dies

Finish off your card with some gorgeous clear embellishments. They will pick up the colors underneath them and add some shine and dimension to an already awesome card.

I hope you will give this galaxy background a try. If you’re feeling inspired by these particular supplies, Hero Arts offers them on their website directly. I’d love to see YOUR version of a galaxy. Feel free to tag me on social media at the links below wherever you post and let me know a comment here on what colors show up in your favorite outer space backgrounds!

Thank you so much for joining me today on the blog. You can catch a companion card and tutorial for this one over at Del & Artie. I’d love to connect with you and see your intricate and inspirational card creations!
