Hello, cardmaking friends! It’s Wendy Sue here today, and I’m excited to share a set of cloud shaped baby cards you can make to send to an expectant family!

In a world of gender-reveal parties, we usually hear the gender of the babies well before he or she arrives, but it’s still a good idea to have both baby girl and baby boy cards on hand for the occasional surprise! Having both pink and blue cards doesn’t mean you have to do twice the work—just create one design and whip up two cards based on the design!

Speaking of design, when was the last time you mixed up your cardmaking a bit by creating a shaped card in place of the traditional rectangle or square? I thought a sweet little cloud shape would be fun for this baby card duo. I created the shaped card base with my Silhouette Cameo, but you could also free-hand a cloud and hand-cut your own! Tip: Be sure to create the card close to a traditional card size so it will fit in an envelope!

I used the It’s a Girl and It’s a Boy collections from Echo Park Paper for both of these cute cards. I love how these two collections have similar products and elements included for each gender, making it easy to us the same design for both cards!

For the card fronts, I cut a slightly smaller cloud, cut from white cardstock and then used my sewing machine to stitch around the edges with white thread. I love the soft and subtle texture this adds to the card front. I also added chipboard pieces, white crochet thread and even a few enamel dots for some extra interest!

Don’t forget to add a cute sticker sentiment to the inside of the card! Adding these colorful phrases to the inside is fun and still allows plenty of room to add a personal message if desired.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today. And now it’s your turn—what shape will you choose for a baby card or two? Happy cardmaking!
