Our first challenge today is a PageMaps sketch challenge! This beautiful sketch created by Becky Fleck is an exclusive sketch that appears in our new Spring 2018 issue (download/view for free!) We would LOVE to see what you create with it.

Flip it, turn it, add a second page. Make it yours! We always love to see what you create with our sketch challenges and hope you’ll use this fabulous PageMaps sketch to record one of your favourite memories.  And then share it with us of course!

Challenge Guidelines:

  1. Create a layout based on the PageMaps sketch above and send an image of it to us at ideas@scrapbookandcards.com.
  2. Please put “iNSD PageMaps challenge” in your reference line.
  3. Please ensure your image is less than 2mb.
  4. You have until May 13th to send your submission to us. We will share a selection of today’s challenge submissions on May 16th!

But wait there’s more! Joining us to kick off the day we have one of our new design team members Anya Lunchenko here to share a fun layout in the shape of a box!

“Today, I want to share with you one of my go-to projects for any occasion – the explosion box. To make this box I used a scoring board and white cardstock for the frame of the box and lid, and decorated it with the “Wish Upon a Star” collection by Echo Park Paper.

For the box, I took a 9×9” piece of white cardstock and added score lines to it every three inches vertically and horizontally. Then, I trimmed all four square corners.

The lid measures slightly larger than 3” to make sure it fits the box (approximately 3 1/16”). There’s a number of different ways to create the lid, but again I use the same scoring board and leave small flaps on the sides to glue the lid together. You may also use a digital die cutting machine to cut a similar box form.

Decorating one of these is a lot of fun and it is my favorite part. I love to combine colors, shapes, die cut pieces, stickers, fussy cut pieces and other decorative elements inside and out. One of the other things that make similar boxes more fun is the dimension. I love to add a few layers with pop dots.

Similar boxes can be used as a fun way to present a small gift, a gift card, or as this one was made – to surprise kids with tickets to Disney World. Hope you can give this idea a try one day!” ~ Anya

Thank you Anya! Definitely, a cute way to share tickets to Disney!
