Hello Scrapbook & Cards Today friends, it’s Becki here to share a layout with you that I created using a sketch from the 2024 Spring/Summer Issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine and the Healing Happy collection from our friends at Doodlebug Design. One of the many things I love about the paper crafting industry is the endless supply of inspiration. One of my favorite things is being inspired by products to tell a story I might not have told otherwise. I strongly feel that we need to tell the hard stories along with the good stories, and this collection is perfect for documenting hard health-related stories.

When I’m looking for a sketch, I always reach for SCT Magazine first! There are always so many sketches to choose from. The sketch I chose to work with is in the Spring/Summer 2024 Issue on page 29. Take a look!

In the sketch, there are two smaller photos, but I chose to work with one large photo. The other main difference is that in the sketch, the paper strips are aligned, but I decided to stagger the strips for a more playful look.
When I saw the sketch, I fell in love with the beautiful border of embellishments. I love the opportunity to add embellishments that enhance and reinforce the story that I’m telling. Embellishments are always so fun to play with and this sketch allowed me to use so many of them!
The health journey that I’m sharing on this layout is longer and a bit more personal. I created a pocket behind the photo for two journaling spots. There is a green tag and a white piece of cardstock with a green sticker tag. I’ll handwrite the story here before I add this layout to my album.
I LOVE how this layout came together! Starting with a sketch is such a great way to create a project quickly and easily. I agree with you, the hard stories are worth documenting, even if it’s later, after having some time to heal. Your layout is awesome! Love the column of embellishments and how it enhances the page!
