Hello, crafty friends! It’s Nathalie here with a new project inspired by one of the sketches in the Winter 2023 Issue. I love how much inspiration beyond the pages of the magazine you can find in each issue. This time, I was looking for a sketch to help me start with a new layout and found it on page 29. Here is the sketch I used for my page:

And here is my take on the sketch featuring the new Beautiful Day collection from LDRS Creative!

Supplies | LDRS Creative Beautiful Day collection: Patterned paper, die cuts; Echo Park Paper: Cardstock; We R Makers: Punch; Scrapbook.com: Adhesive; Other: thread

Though the sketch was created for a card, it can easily be used as a starting point for a layout, too. All you need to do is think about your layout as the panel of the card (plus a few inches) and go from there.

I flipped the sketch 180 degrees so that the stripes would sit on the right side of the page. I followed the sketch and cut strips from patterned paper from the Beautiful Day collection, but instead of leaving the space in between the stripes, I decided to punch the edges and set them right next to each other.

I decided to replace the large circle on the sketch with my photos. I framed them with a patterned paper from the 6×6 Beautiful Day paper pad, then set it on the bottom right corner of the page using foam adhesive. I used all the floral ephemera as well as a few fussy-cut florals to embellish my layout—think of them as replacing all those little circles in the sketch!

If you see the sketch, the sentiment in the card is set right below the large circle.  I decided to switch this a bit on my page. I added a small die cut below the photos but decided to move the title to the left of the photos, which I fussy cut the sentiment from the cover of the collection. Moving the sentiment to the left of the photo helps to cover the larger canvas and balances the page.

Because most of the focus of the page is in the bottom right quarter of the page, I decided to use a bit of the canvas on the opposite side of the photo to bring everything to balance. For this, I hand-stitched a few curly lines coming out from the title and added butterfly die cuts to the end of the stitched lines.

I hope this inspires you to take a look at all of the bonus content available for you beyond the pages of each Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine issue. I am sure you will find the perfect spark to ignite your creativity!
