Welcome to day three of our Summer Fun week, as we continue to countdown to our Summer Issue release this Friday! We are so looking forward to it! Today, creative team member Victoria Calvin is with us to share two beautiful summer-themed cards without the bright and bold colours that you might typically expect, but they’re so realistic you can almost smell them! Let’s find out what she made!

Hello everyone! It’s Victoria and I am back with a lovely summer-themed slimline card featuring the Spellbinders Mason Jar and Lavender 4 dies. I absolutely love lavender, so when I saw this die set, I was immediately inspired to make a summer card!

Supplies | Spellbinders: Mason Jar and Lavender 4 Cutting Dies, Everyday Sentiments II Glimmer Hot Foil plate and die, Color Essentials sequins – silver smooth discs, Diagonal Stripes slimline embossing folder, Beveled Diamonds 3D embossing folder; Catherine Pooler: Cardstock; Cardstock Warehouse Solid Cardstock

To begin, I cut all of the floral and stem elements using the Mason Jar and Lavender dies. Since the card design features several elements, I like to cut everything at once to make the creative process more efficient. First, I cut all of the lavender petals and stems using purple and green cardstock from my stash. Next, I cut two mason jars from white and gray cardstock and used Distress Ink to highlight the edges. Once all of the elements were cut, I assembled the floral pieces inside the mason jars as shown.

To prepare the card panel, I trimmed a piece of Catherine Pooler Smooth White Cardstock to 3.5 x 8.5 inches. Using the Spellbinders Diagonal Stripes Slimline Embossing Folder, I embossed the panel and attached it to a 3.5 x 8.5-inch card base. Next, I added dimensional adhesive to the back of the gray mason jar and adhered it to the card panel. I repeated these steps by creating a second card that features a white mason jar.

To complete the card projects, I created the sentiments Hello Friend and Thinking of You using the Spellbinders Everyday Sentiments II Cutting Die and the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Machine. The foiled sentiments give both cards a bit of added shine and interest. And for a final touch, I sprinkled a few Spellbinders Color Essential sequins around the sentiment on both cards and I wrapped a bit of twine from my stash around the top of the mason jars for added texture.

And with that, my summer-themed slimline cards are complete! This design is perfect for any occasion and can be customized based on your style preference. I hope you are inspired to create summer-themed cards all season long!
