Welcome back on this special World Card Making Day! If you’re just joining us, we’ve already hosted a colour challenge and a patterned paper challenge, and we’d love for you to join on the fun. This hour, we are so excited to welcome our friend Jenn Shurkus to the blog! We have loved Jenn’s amazing card classes at our Crop & Create events, and we’re excited for her to share our next challenge with all of our readers!
…………………………
Hello everyone! It’s Jenn Shurkus, {creative chick} here to share with you a fun post for World Card Making Day. I am featuring Lawn Fawn’s Happy Harvest stamp set in “one stamp, three ways.” Happy Harvest has been around since 2015 and is one of my most favorite stamps sets from Lawn Fawn. Usually this time of year I am traveling and teaching in-person classes and I am always sure to sneak this cute scarecrow in among all the new fall goodies in my class designs. Since I am unable to travel and teach this year, I thought it would be fun to share him with all of you!
A little fun fact is all of Lawn Fawn’s images easily coordinate with each other, making it really fun to create unique and different looks depending on where your creativity takes you. It also encourages you to keep using your older stamp sets even after you purchase new.
For all 3 cards, I used 3 of the same supplies: Happy Harvest, Peekaboo Backdrop, and Stitched Woodgrain Backdrop. Then depending on the theme of the card, or the color scheme I wanted to go with, I added in some other Lawn Fawn supplies.
For my first card I wanted to create a Halloween card. Lawn Fawn has a new set, Fox Costume Before n’ Afters, where you get to dress one of the foxes up into a costume, one of those costumes is a witch, so I thought it would be fun to dress the scarecrow up as a witch as well, coloring the scarecrow in grays and purples and then adding the witch’s hat from Hat’s Off To You.
For this next card, I wanted to recreate a color scheme I recently used on a fall card that you can see here. I loved the orange, yellow, red and teal together so much. I see this card as a fun one to send out closer to Thanksgiving, especially since I added in Thankful Mice. The pile of leaves and rake are from Jump For Joy. I just love the richness of the colors on this card.
For the last card, I wanted it to be a bit more playful and set the scene of what you would see heading out to an orchard in the fall. I had all intentions to color the scarecrow in a bit more traditional colors, with blue overalls etc especially since my other two cards were non-traditional, but as I colored all the other images on the card I was inspired to add in green. The barrel of apples are from Thanks a Bushel, then I also used Caramel Apple, Cutie Pie, Pick of the Patch, and the How Ya Bean? Candy Corn Add-On.
Lastly, one detail I added on all three scarecrows is a plaid shirt. I did this by using a coordinating marker color to draw in diagonal lines. Don’t think too much about it, and they don’t have to be perfect for it to turn out cute!
There is certainly no need to have all these different sets! I just hope this post inspires you to look at what you DO have and see what you can combine and create with. Who’s to say that the scarecrow can’t be on a Valentine card? Or maybe at the beach? OOH! This mermaid here might just have to try that one!
Hope you all enjoy World Card Making Day, and take a minute to pop on over to my site where I share all kinds of inspiration as well as online classes and events! You can even see some more inspiration with the Happy Harvest set here. Thanks for stopping by!
