Good morning, SCT friends!
We know that times are trying right now for all of us. We can see it in your Instagram and Facebook posts—the worry and the frustration with what is going on right now in the world, and we are there with you. During this difficult time, we are trying to find silver linings: people offering help and looking out for each other, communities—like our own paper crafting community—banding together, and being able to communicate with friends and family through video and social media. This week we celebrate our 14th birthday, and instead of putting off the celebration, we have decided to continue on; because we all need a little bit of happiness in our lives right now!
We are so excited to celebrate our 14th birthday with you, our dear readers, our creative team and our partners all week here on the blog! We’re sharing inspirational birthday projects each day this week, along with special giveaways at the end of each post, generously donated by our partners—don’t miss a single day! Let’s kick this week off with our first post from creative team member Nathalie Leonelli!
Happy Birthday, SCT Magazine! How fun is it that I, Nathalie, get to inaugurate our birthday week here on the blog? I just happened to have several birthday photos that were waiting to be scrapped, so I pulled the fun SCT Delivered Make A Wish card kit I used to make cards last month, and I will show you today how I’ve adapted it to create pocket pages!
Supplies | Make A Wish card kit; Cardstock: Bazzill; Tools: Tim Holtz; Album: We R Memory Keepers; Page protectors: Project Life
Once my photos were placed, my whole spread started with the “Yay, Yay, Yay” card. Part of the Crate Paper die-cut pack included in the kit, it was just perfect for a 3” x 4” pocket! I added a few machine stitches and another die-cut on top, rather than inside the page protector as it was crossing “the boundaries” of the pockets. I like how it breaks the lines.
For the title card, which is my favorite, I created layers with several Crate Paper die-cuts on top of a tag and added a bit of stamping. The kit has both patterned papers and die-cuts from the Hooray collection so everything matches perfectly!
I kept my journaling consistent throughout the spread by using typed paper strips.
This kit is so packed and so versatile! It might say “card kit” on the front but it is absolutely fabulous for documenting birthdays in pockets, too!
Be sure to come back tomorrow as we are continuing with the birthday inspiration and festivities all week long! Happy birthday, SCT!
