Good morning SCT friends! TGIF right? Today we have a great way to round out this busy week. A guest and a giveaway! Joining us today is designer Betz Golden who we met in the Brutus Munroe booth at our summer trade show in Salt Lake. We enjoyed meeting the owner Christopher as he toured the booth with us and shared the amazing products Brutus Monroe offers. We also saw some of Betz’s beautiful work and invited her to join us today. If you’ve not heard about Brutus Monroe before, here’s a little bit more about them:

“The “Brutus Monroe” papercraft company was born in 2014 using the name of a tiny dog and a whole bunch of big ideas. The “Brutus Monroe” stamp line is a true labor of love for design and all things creative. This stamp line was born on the basis of simplicity and ease of use, you will rarely find a stamp set here that does not play well with the other sets, or a set that will only work with a certain theme.”

Take it away Betz…

“Hello SCT friends! Today I am sharing with you a fun Circle Card that is easy to make, yet memorable to the receiver because of the shape! I am using my very favorite ink – Surface Ink! I like this ink because you can use it on any surface (heat set it on smooth or glossy finishes) and for a variety of techniques. It can stamp, emboss, be used as a watercolor, and is permanent once it is heat set on smooth surfaces. On this card I used it as a watercolor and to stamp the sentiment.

Owl 15

Line a 6 x 6 Brutus Monroe Card Base up with a circle template making sure the top is over the edge of the crease.

Owl 1

Cut circle out making sure to not cut the fold.

Owl 2

Using the Terracotta Surface ink stamp the “Pine and Berry” Background on the circle card front. Then roughly ink the edges with embossing ink and cover with Penny embossing powder. Set it with a heat gun.

Owl 4

Set card aside. On a craft mat dab Machiatto Surface Ink and mist with water until droplets form. Dip a piece of white cardstock in the puddle. Heat set it once you achieve desired coverage.

Owl 5

Make sure it is dry before moving on to next step.

Owl 6

Stamp “Owl Always Love You” image with embossing ink and emboss it with Penny powder.

Owl 7

Using the coordinating die, cut the image out and ink the edges with Machiatto Surface Ink.

Owl 8

Stamp the sentiment from the “Owl Always Love You” set on the card front in Machiatto.

Owl 9

Add pop dots to the owls and adhere owls to the card! Using the Brutus Monroe Craft Glue adhere “Ginger Bottlecap Sequins” randomly on card. The glue dries clear, so if any white is visible it is okay! It won’t be once it is dry.

Here’s a tutorial I created for this card and all the supplies can be found HERE.

Hello! My name is Betz and I have been paper crafting for 30 years (started when I was 12!). I am currently the Lead Designer for We Craft, Design Team member for Brutus Monroe, Rinea, Calico Collage and an ambassador for Lisa Kettell Designs. I have also designed for Scrapgoods, Beacon, and Bombshell Stamps. I love to think outside of the box and experiment in my art. I always have a plan when I sit down to start a project, but it never ends that way I expected. I have three kids (ages 16, 15, and 12) that keep me busy with basketball and theater. I own a kennel in which I breed Golden Retrievers for mobility and service. Currently I have been working with the Autistic community and providing service dogs to go into the classrooms. I love to travel, cook and read. I am an avid Planner and have taken my art into planning my days. You can find me on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram as Betz Golden. My blog is www.scrappycafe.blogspot.com and I also have a Facebook page — Scrappy Cafe. Please subscribe to my channel and blog. I would love to get to know you!
