This cut file is so much fun! It’s adorable and screams SUMMER!!!

The first thing I did to create this layout was to cut out the cut file from white cardstock. After that, I got to work choosing patterned papers from the Splendid collection by Paige Evans and American Crafts. This collection screams summer! It’s full of gorgeous bright colors and fun patterns. The patterned papers from the 6×8 paper pad are perfect for backing cut files. I did pull in a couple pieces of brown and kraft cardstock to back the cut files, too.

After I backed the cut file, I chose my background, which I often do once the cut file is backed. By choosing the background after I back the cut file, I’m free to use any colors/patterns that I want on the cut file.

The sky blue cardstock was the perfect backdrop for this bold, summery design. I added a thin border of orange patterned paper to finish the background.

When I adhered the cut file to the background, I used foam adhesive. I wanted to give the cut file added dimension and I wanted to create a place to tuck the bottom of my photos under the cut file.

I used tiny foam Thickers and a puffy sticker to create the title. I love how the title curves around the bottom of the hammock. Tiny letter stickers are so fun! Because the cut file did most of the work for me, I kept the embellishments to a minimum. On the top left corner of the layout, I added my journaling. I finished the layout with stickers and a couple of buttons.

This layout was so fun to create! I am SO happy with how it came together. What are you waiting for? Hurry and download this cut file and get creating, and be sure to share what you make with it using the #sctmagazine hashtag! Happy summer crafting, my friends!
