Welcome to day one of Love Week! Each day we will be sharing love-filled projects with you from our design team and special guests so that you’ll be inspired to create your own to celebrate or share with someone you love! We’re starting the week off with Editor-in-Chief Susan R. Opel. Let’s take a look at how Susan is spreading the love around this week!

Happy first Monday of February! I hope you are feeling the LOVE!

I recently finished writing the spring issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine, and I’ve been feasting my eyes on spring flowers and Easter celebrations, but today I’m stopping in with some sweet Valentine’s Day inspiration!

The Simple Stories Heart Eyes collection has stolen my heart! I decided to make 8 simple tags to hand out using the patterned papers and die cut shapes and stickers from the collection. It’s a busy time of year when I’m writing the magazine, so I decided to keep things simple, and patterned papers and ephemera are always perfect for quick cuteness with awesome results!

The ephemera comes in lots of sizes, so I decided to create continuity with the set by starting with dotted tag shapes, and then I built clusters on each, adding dimension with foam tape.

I accented each with a few gems for added sparkle, a ribbon, twine, and a coordinating button. It was SO FUN to dig into my button stash. Since the tags are being hand-delivered, it’s okay to add that kind of bulk.

On the back of each, I wrote a little encouraging note like, “Always remember you are awesome!” or “I hope you have a wonderful day.”

I’ve added these tags to my purse, and I’ve already handed out six of them to retail workers, people at church, and a hardworking bartender. Below you can see Cindy (the lady who loads my trunk with my grocery pick-up each week) holding one of the tags.

We are so happy to have Simple Stories as one of our partners! And I’m so happy that you stopped by today.

Here’s to a month of sharing love and inspiration!
