Hi! It’s Jill Broadbent here to share two cards I created with fresh, spring vibes! Frilly flowers and bright blooms are signs that the sun is soon returning, and I cannot wait! Poppy and Pear by Bea Valint is the perfect collection to ring in spring. The collection has so many patterns and ephemera pieces that make creating projects so simple. I created two cards using the components in the collection as the main focus.

Supplies | American Crafts  Poppy & Pear collection: Card kit, 6 x 8″ paper pad, paperie pack, 6 x 12″ sticker sheet, alpha Thickers, 3D embellishments; Spectrum Noir: Metallic marker; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

For both cards, I used the Poppy and Pear boxed card kit as the base. The patterns are the same as the 12 x 12-inch papers, but they are scaled for cards and preprinted on thick cardstock bases. I also used the 6 x 8-inch paper pad for additional details.

On the first card, I used a yellow floral base card and then trimmed out tags and paper strips from the papers.

When layering pieces and pairing patterns, I like to distress the edges of the paper to add dimension and break up the layers. Simply keep your scissors closed and use the outside edge to soften the fibers and shave off color.

The black florals are clear stickers that I backed with white cardstock and trimmed out. Tucking in leaves and florals helps break up the straight lines of the layered pieces.

To add embellishment, I used baker’s twine and gold staples to add a little shine. The “hello” puffy sticker added the card sentiment, making it a card to be used for any occasion.

On the second card, I kept to the same supplies and concepts. The base floral pattern is from the card kit.

Instead of distressing the layering pieces, I used a gold marker from Spectrum Noir to add shimmer to the edges of the card base and the layered elements. The large floral was fussy cut from a piece of paper in the 6 x 8-inch paper pad.

For the sentiment, the “love” comes from a sticker sheet.” The “you” is from the foam stickers and I colored the white letters with the same gold marker to tie it all together and make the word pop off the card. You can always color embellishments to coordinate with your project.

Before adding all the pieces to the card, I added a piece of glassine paper to add a subtle layer of texture. A few simple gems and a dimensional sticker bow from the collection added the finishing touches. With the coordination of a beautiful collection like Poppy &  Pear, you can choose a few simple techniques to easily make stunning creations.
