Welcome, September!

The cards I’m sharing with you today are pretty special since they were commissioned and have already traveled from Utah to Indiana. For 9 years I taught at a tiny Lutheran school in Woodburn, Indiana, which is actually the smallest city in the state! I came to the school from Las Vegas, so the residents of Woodburn were pretty in awe of my flashy, big city ways!

While there, I made many wonderful friends and taught countless students. And now, one of my former students is on the fundraising committee which hosts an auction each year, and she asked if I would contribute a couple of sets of cards. I was happy to do so.

Enter Simple Stories! I pulled out the super fun products from the Into the Wild collection and whipped up a quick, mass-produced collection of cards.

One of the patterned papers had “tags” that could be cut out, so I chose five appropriate for kids and trimmed them out.

Then, I found papers that matched well from the 6×8 paper pad and started my assembly.

I punched hole in each tag and finished them off with bakers’ twine. They are adhered with foam tape. Each animal has a tiny titch of Glossy Accents on their nose, cheeks, or beak.

In true mass-produced style, I did everything in steps—folded card bases, trimmed tags, punched holes, tied twine, and paired patterned cardstock fronts to patterned papers. Then it was assembly time!

  1. Adhere patterned paper panel to patterned cardstock panel.
  2. Adhere tag with foam tape.
  3. Add sticker. Add glossy accents and let dry.
