We are so excited to welcome our friends at Ranger Ink to the blog today! Their newest Distress Ink, Saltwater Taffy, has been all the rage lately, and we’re here to see how that pretty colour plays with other spring-hued Distress products!

…………………….

Hi friends! It’s Patti Behan, the Education Manager at Ranger Ink. I’m here on the blog today to show you how to create this cute and colorful card that would be perfect to let that special someone know you are thinking of them. I’ll be using a ton of Tim Holtz Distress® products and featuring the latest and greatest color in the line, Saltwater Taffy. So, let’s get started!

Supplies | Tim Holtz Distress® Ink Pads: Saltwater Taffy, Tumbled Glass, Shaded Lilac, Brushed Corduroy; Tim Holtz Distress® Oxide Spray Speckled Egg; Tim Holtz Distress® Spray Stain: Picket Fence, Twisted Citron; Tim Holtz Distress® Sprayer filled with water; Tim Holtz Distress® Glaze Saltwater Taffy; Tim Holtz Distress® Embossing Pen Set; Tim Holtz Distress® Archival Ink™ Black Soot; Tim Holtz Distress® Collage Medium; Simon Hurley create Stark White Cardstock; Ranger Stickles™ Glitter Glue: Stardust; Ranger Acrylic Stamping Block; Ranger Heat It™ Craft Tool; Tim Holtz® by Stampers Anonymous Stamp Set: Spring Shadows; Double Sided Adhesive Tape; White Mini Pompom; Scissors

To begin, we are going to make the background for the card. First, cut a piece of Simon Hurley Stark White Cardstock to 3-3/4” x 5-1/2”. Spray Tim Holtz Distress® Speckled Egg Oxide Spray generously on the top half of the card, followed by Tim Holtz Distress® Twisted Citron Ink Spray on the lower portion as shown. Let dry. Lightly press the trigger on the Distress Sprayer to spritz water droplets onto the background.  Let the water sit for a few seconds and blot with a paper towel. This will remove some of the ink and create a more interesting background. Shake the Distress Picket Fence Spray Stain until completely mixed, then remove the sprayer top from the Distress Picket Fence Spray Stain and randomly flick the Spray Stain onto the background. Set aside to dry.

Stamp the splatter image from the Spring Shadows stamp with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink randomly over the background of the card.

On a 4-1/2” x 5.5” piece of white cardstock, stamp the following:

“Hello Spring” with Tim Holtz Distress® Black Soot Archival Ink™

Bunny with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink

Flower #1: one Saltwater Taffy

Flower #2: one Saltwater Taffy, one Shaded Lilac

Flower #3: two Tumbled Glass, one Saltwater Taffy, one Shaded Lilac

Use the Tim Holtz Distress® Bullet Tip Embossing Pen to doodle outlines on the Saltwater Taffy Flowers. Pour embossing Saltwater Taffy Embossing Glaze over top, remove excess, and melt the powder with the Heat It Craft Tool. Use the Brush Tip Embossing Pen to add some pink to inside the Bunny’s ears.

Make an A2 top folding card out of white cardstock. Glue the background onto the center of the card base. Cut out the stamped images and back with with double-sided adhesive as shown. Glue a mini pompom onto the bunny’s tail using Distress Collage Medium.

Glue the pieces as shown with Collage Medium and then add Stardust Stickles™ Glitter Glue to the flowers to give them a little extra sparkle.

We hope you enjoyed this spring card, and have a few ideas for how to use your Tim Holtz Distress® products this season! Enjoy!
