Summer Bliss Documented with the Fun in the Sun Kit and Meghann Andrew!

Hello, SCT friends! It’s Meghann Andrew with you today and I’m SO excited about the new Fun in the Sun SCT Delivered kit, and the possibilities it holds for documenting the best summer moments! Earlier this week, we shared inspiration from the creative team using the kit, and today, I’m here to share a new 8-½” x 11” layout with you. Take a look:

Looking at this page makes me want to be right back in that summer moment! I recorded some “me” time by the pool during our trip to Portugal last summer with this page, and the gorgeous products from the kit just worked perfectly for this page! I started with a 4” x 6” portrait photo, which I layered generously with three different patterned papers from the kit, as well as a scalloped strip of patterned paper which I fussy-cut. These beautiful layers not only lifted my photo, making it the focus, but they also highlighted the colors in my picture! To give my photo base, and to add the three colors that I used on this layout to the background, I added the striped red, teal and yellow strip before adhering my photo mat.

Once my layers were in place, I started fussy-cutting flowers and lemons from the patterned papers included in the kit to tuck behind my photo mat papers. I added dimensional adhesive to these pieces, too, allowing them to stand out and frame the photo. I also grabbed some of the gorgeous die cut pieces from the Echo Park Paper Summertime ephemera pack, like that red bathing suit! 

To balance the weight on the left side of my photo, I added another grouping to the top right corner of my photo, starting with a stamped camera using the exclusive Fun in the Sun stamp. I love this little camera, and it looks sweet stamped just like this, or colored in! I also added another bathing suit—fussy cut this time from patterned paper, and the “summertime” ephemera piece. For a different texture, I also added the sun paperclip, which I just love seeing peeking out from behind the layers.

The space below my photo was the perfect place to add my title and journaling. I started by stamping “summer” using the Fun in the Sun exclusive stamp set, using the Canary Exclusive Ink from Close to My Heart. I fussy cut it using sharp scissors, then topped it with a bit of sparkle using a Wink of Stella pen. Underneath, I added the “bliss” exclusive acrylic word from the kit. Because I had yellow and blue in this area, I wanted to add red, too, so I grabbed another sweet bathing suit die cut from the Echo Park Paper Summertime ephemera pack to layer under the word “summer.” To the right, I also added a dark navy patterned paper flag for some contrast, and the yellow “vacation” tab exclusive printable from the kit! 

After finishing my page off with a few puffy stickers, sequins enamel dots, and an acrylic flower, all from the kit, I felt that I needed a bit of contrast along the bottom edge of the page. I tore a triangle from the yellow cardstock base, then backed it with the teal splash patterned paper, stapling the torn edges in place. I just love that little bit of added interest is added, and it finished off my page perfectly.
