“Hello SCT friends! It’s Meghann Andrew with you today, and I’m so excited to celebrate International Scrapbooking Day! We all love this hobby so much, not only because we get to play with pretty product, but we get to print our photos and record memories, too! It’s a win-win! Today, I’m sharing a new 8-1/2″ x 11″ layout with you that records a special birthday memory, and I used the March 2019 SCT Sampler to pull it together quickly and easily!

Supplies: SCT March 2019 Sampler, Elle’s Studio alphabet stickers

The SCT Sampler subscription is SO wonderful to create with. The thing that I like most about it is that there may be a product in it that I wouldn’t necessarily have chosen, so it allows me to try something new—a new product or manufacturer. Plus, the SCT Sampler contains a smaller amount of product, which forces me to use what I have on my desk, and get creative! I love limiting myself to just a few things when I create, and those projects typically turn out to be my favorite! Today’s layout is no different. Let’s take a look at what I started with in my March SCT Sampler:

What an awesome array of products from Crate Paper, Doodlebug Designs, and Hero Arts in this SCT Sampler, right?! The first thing that I did was match the papers that I wanted to use to the photo of my daughter getting ready to blow out her birthday candles, and the Doodlebug Design Simply Spring papers fit the photo perfectly. I decided to cut those out at 2-1/2″ squared, sew them around the edges with white thread and add them in a column on the left side of my white cardstock background.

My photo was sized at 4″ squared, and I placed it to the right of my patterned paper squares, but there was a disconnect between the left and right sides of the page. To link my photo to that patterned paper, I added the “happy birthday to you” and “eat cake” ephemera pieces, as well as the “get your party on” sticker, which I put on white cardstock and cut out. I love how these bridge the gap between the two columns on my page.

Now it was time for the fun part! I added my title underneath my photo, adding Elle’s Studio stickers and the “wish” SCT exclusive foam word from the SCT Sampler. Then, because this layout was all about blowing out those birthday candles, I created my own at the base of the page! Starting with the colorful striped Doodlebug Under My Umbrella paper, I cut out five stripes to make the candles, then topped them with sequins, a heart die cut and sweet pompoms from the SCT Sampler!

To bring a bit more color to the right column on the spread, I used the lovely brand new Hero Arts Hello Greetings Birthday Stamp to add streamers, confetti, and stars stamped in all of the colors of my page, coming out from my birthday candles! I love the way that these add that final celebratory touch to my page.

Next time that you sit down to create, grab your latest SCT Sampler and get creative! I promise you will love what you make! Thanks so much for joining me, and Happy International Scrapbooking Day! (Oh, and be sure to order your very own SCT Sampler! You’ll love this little gift of happy mail each month!)”
