Welcome to the 2pm hour of our International Scrapbook Day celebration! We just love this hour’s theme and challenge, based on using what you have in your stash for any type of layout! Let’s hear from Becki Adams, and get her tips for changing up the theme of your products to pare down your stash!
……………………
Hello, Scrapbook and Cards Today fans! It’s Becki here to share a fun challenge with you for National Scrapbook Day 2022! Isn’t this the best weekend?! There’s nothing I love more than celebrating this amazing hobby that we all share. Let’s create and tell our stories—not just this weekend, but always. It’s so important!
One of my favorite things to do is switch the collection theme. For example, create a school-themed layout using a baby collection. To jumpstart your inspiration, I created a layout using the Let’s Get Crafty collection from Simple Stories. Instead of making a crafting-themed layout, I created a baby layout.
It’s usually easier than you may think! Here are three tips for you to make this challenge easy and fun:
- Focus on the back of the patterned paper. This is the B-side, and it usually has a smaller tone-on-tone pattern.
-
Keep your title generic. If you’re working with a baby collection and have the title, “sweet baby” drop the word “baby” and simply use the word “sweet.”
-
Focus on basic embellishments such as tags, frames, labels, and enamel dots.
-
Mix in a sheet or two of cardstock!
There are so many possibilities within a collection, it doesn’t matter what theme the manufacturer intended! The products that find their way into your hands are meant to tell your stories no matter what the theme is.
If you’d like to see how this layout came together, check out this process video, found on the Scrapbook & Cards Today YouTube channel:
Friends, I cannot wait to see what you create! Happy International Scrapbook Day and happy crafting!
