Hey there SCT friends! It’s Erica here today sharing a new summer layout with you! With the release of the Scrapbook & Cards Today Summer 2020 issue I have been so inspired to create fun summer layouts!

Supplies | Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned paper, die-cut shapes, stickers: American Crafts & Amy Tangerine Picnic in the Park collection; Enamel dots: Foundations Decor; Electronic die-cutting machine: Silhouette Cameo; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Other: typewriter

For my layout today I was inspired by the amazing 8.5” x 11” layout on page 23 designed by Virginia Nebel:

The circles popped out at me right away and I knew I had to create a summer page with this layout as my inspiration! I used my paper punches to punch out my patterned paper using the Amy Tangerine Picnic in the Park collection. If you are looking for a colorful collection that can be used for many different things then this is the collection for you!

Once all my patterned paper circles were cut out, I used my Silhouette Cameo and some white American Crafts textured cardstock to cut different-sized circles for my patterned paper to layer on. I distressed all the edges of the cut-out circles to add some texture and dimension. You could also add some stitching to the circles for even more texture!

I love the strip of patterned paper at the bottom of Virginia’s layout, so I really wanted to add one to mine! I used one of the branding strips from the Picnic in the Park collection that matched a couple of the circles I had used to help tie it all together.

I found the cutest tote bag die cut from the Picnic in the Park collection that I think went great with my photos. I sprinkled some yellow enamel dots to bring in some more yellow and add another texture to the page.

Using shapes like this is a great way to get a faux cut file look without the cutting machine. If you have a stash of punches or thin metal dies, give this technique a try on your next project! This will work great with layouts, cards and travelers notebook spreads! Thank you so much for stopping by today!
